Makeup Base is the most important part of your makeup and that we all know. Though I am not a big fan of makeup base but then, you know… you can’t really do without them in a makeup routine.
You can check out The Makeup Base Guide – Part 1 for an overview of what basic types of base you should use and when. This blog is a lot more elaborated one than the previous one.
My current makeup base collection includes
Maybelline Fit Me Compact
Maybelline Fit Me Foundation
MAC Studio Fix
L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder
I would rather strive for a naturally flawless skin rather than building it up with foundations and powders, for which I keep the base usage minimal, only if and when required. Let me share with you when and what I use in terms of makeup base.
For everyday, I skip this part most of the time. I prefer going with just a water based moisturizer.I fear my skin falling for the makeup base addiction. But if at all I feel the need to put on a base, I use a sheer coverage compact. If you are looking for a base for every day office wear, I would recommend you a sheer coverage compact (for medium to oily skin) or a BB Cream (for dry skin). Anything beyond this, on an everyday basis would seriously harm the skin in the long run.
You can go for Garnier BB Cream or even DIY BB cream for yourself (I shall soon be posting a video on this, do subscribe to my channel so that you don’t miss it 😀 )
If looking for a compact, you can choose MAC Studio Fix or Maybelline Fit Me Compact
For a day outing
For a day outing, my makeup routine includes a base for sure and it varies as per the weather and my skin’s behavior. During summers/ monsoon my skin seems to be living a life of it’s own! Totally Uncontrollable! Sometimes it’s oily, sometimes combinational. After controlling the oiliness/ dryness level with the right kind of moisturizer, I like to use L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder. You can read the full review to know more about it. This liquid powder gives an even finished look and keeps the skin matte and fresh all day long.
For casual evening outings
When out in the evening, I use a bit of Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in the under eye. It basically acts as a concealer, this instantly brightens up the eyes and hides the tiredness of the day. After this, I use a powder brush to apply Maybelline Fit Me Compact all over, NEVER overdo the base application, it will make you look like a walking cake!
During weddings or other heavy functions, I choose to evenly apply Maybelline Fit Me Foundation and let it set for a minute or two, followed by Maybelline Fit Me Compact, you can use a concealer if required prior the compact.
You can buy all the above mentioned products from NYKAA and do let me know your views in the comment section below!
