10 Ways to Practice Self-Love #mondaymotivaltion

I wasn’t aware of the idea of self-love, until a few years back when I really got indulged in self-help books… For those of you who aren’t very sure of what I’m talking about, well, self-love is the idea to give yourself as much time, attention and affection as you would do for your favourite most person. And if you ask me why is that needed at all?! Oh well because, you first need to be full of something before you are capable of pouring it out to others, in this case LOVE!

We often get so caught up in our everyday busy schedule, meeting deadlines, family needs, life goals, household chores,  that we totally forget to stop, look and acknowledge the very person who is making the run possible… which is our very own self! And that is why it is so important to pause and give yourself the much-needed and deserved affection. Here are some really easy and doable ideas to practice self-love.

Bulletin Journal

Get yourself a journal and start listing your goals, develop new habits, track them, make daily to-do lists, doodle, schedule…. basically make a clear note of everything, know yourself well, be clear of what you want, identify your flaws and work on improving yourself. A bujo or bulletin journal can be really useful and so much fun! You can find out a number of YouTube tutorials to create one for yourself. This not only bring in self-discipline but also helps bring so much clarity which we may be missing sometimes.

Coffee Date

Once a week or maybe once in two weeks, go out on a coffee date with yourself! Yes! Alone! Just to unwind, reflect and relax! It may sound weird to some of you but it is a beautiful experience.

Long Relaxing Baths

Set aside a day of the week for a really good, long and relaxing bath. You could soak yourself in some scented warm water, or you could do a DIY Body scrub, wear a nourishing hair or face mask… and just relax and unwind!

Put on Your Favourite Red Lipstick

Never underestimate the power of a red lipstick! It can instantly make you feel like a Diva. Dress up, put on your favourite red lipstick… If you don’t have one, go get yourself one! Everybody deserves to feel glamorous and nothing as good as a bold red lipstick.

Follow Your Bliss Day

This one is so much fun! Set a day each month (or week) where your actions would be driven by your bliss. Let the inner child in you throw tantrums and fulfill them (well, as much as its feasible). This is the day when you can follow your bliss and indulge in a sinful cheesy pizza or a rich chocolate sundae where you normally eat healthy home cooked food.

Set Firm Principles

Set yourself unshakable, firm principles… I am not sure how to explain this, but I’ll try… like not letting negative comments affect you or following a set daily routine, or eating healthy, or thinking positive could be some examples to start with. The idea is to set principles that are so firmly part of your system that even if you get off track, these would pull you back… If that makes any sense.

I know, this one is over said and may not sound a lot of fun.. that’s why I wanted to keep this point towards the end. Exercising is the best way to ensure your body is on a healthy track, and when we talk of self-love we also include the body. Though for some of us it may not be the ‘blissful’ option.. but that’s okay, you can skip it on the ‘Follow your bliss’ Day!

Keep Your Hobbies Alive

Remember as children ,hobbies were such a big deal! Of course as you grow up, there are so many important things to keep you engaged and worked up that there is no time or energy left to spend on the things you like doing the most… which is actually sad… you schedule a day maybe once a month to do the things you love the most!

Mini Self-Pampering Sessions

Every now and then throw yourself into little self-pampering sessions, these don’t have to be elaborated and extravagant but could be as simple as giving yourself a fresh new manicure or a 10 minutes foot massage or maybe hair oiling.

Positive Self Talk

A big THUMBS UP to this one! Pay close attention to your inner voice… is it demotivating or motivating? Sabotaging or Uplifting? Feeding your mind with constant positive affirmations can have a magical effect! It can be as short as simple as ‘I can do it’ or ‘I am doing great’ or even ‘I have the capability to handle this’.

I hope you find these tips not only useful but also exciting… let me know your favourite one in the comments section below and don’t forget to checkout my other posts from #MONDAYMOTIVATION HERE.
