Milani Eye Tech Perfection Eyeliner | Review

Milani Eye Tech Perfection Eyeliner

You can never ever go overboard with a black eyeliner, I think it’s the most commonly used cosmetic around the world… And why not, a black eyeliner is something that fits very well in every occasion, be it an everyday look or the dramatic bridal look, a black eyeliner is what most of us reach for to complete the effect. My favorite liquid black eyeliners are the ones which have a pen sort of applicator. That makes the application so quick and mistake proof. Here is a detailed review of the Milani Eye Tech Perfection Eyeliner.

milani_eyeliner_1

Packaging

The packaging reminds me of The Curve Eyeliner by NYX , It has a curved body to give a better control over the application. The felt tip allows you to create a thin, medium or a heavy line, as you desire! It’s extremely comfortable to hold, beginners would love it for sure. Talking of the down side, I faced slight issue working on a winged liner with this felt tip applicator, I wish it was slightly more flexible.

milani_eyeliner_2

Quality & Texture

The product claims to give a full color definition in one stroke, well… that isn’t really true, I need to coat 2-3 times to get a deep pigmented black line.

It gives a matte black finish, which is how I like my eyeliner to be.

Another good thing is, It dries quickly as you apply, you wouldn’t need to sit for long with your eyes closed, which is a common case with most of the liquid eyeliners. Also it saves a few extra minutes getting ready.

milani_eyeliner_3

Wearability

The product isn’t waterproof, it is some what water resistant. It smudges easily on oily lids, so if you have oily lids, this is not the right product for you, if you don’t, make sure not to apply moisturizer on your eyelids as a part of your daily moisturizing routine.

It lasts for good 8 hours if you have powdered your eyelids prior application, else it stays well for about 6 hours.

Rating

4/5

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

  1. The pen felt tips makes application along the ends slightly difficult, I wish it was more flexible.
  2. It smudges easily if you apply a regular moisturizer on your lids, or have oily lids naturally.

Revlon Photoready Eye Art Moonlight Glitz | Review & Swatch

Revlon Photoready Eye Art

Liquid eye shadows are the new bomb in the market. After the immense success of liquid lipsticks, we could see brands coming up with liquid eye shadows. Revlon launched their liquid eye shadows lately, it’s the photoready eye art. The product is quite interesting, you have a liquid eye-shadow on one end and brilliant sparkle on the other. You can get creative and use it to create various looks. They come in 10 shades, and all of them are beautiful.

Revlon-Photoready-Eye-Art-502x360

I was gravitated towards Moonlight Glitz which is deep, sort of a royal blue. I have been using it since a while and here is what I think about the product.

Revlon Photoready Eye Art

Revlon Photoready Eye Art

PACKAGING

The packaging is exactly same as their nail art enamel. I almost missed it thinking it to be their nail polishes. On a second look I realized that it’s the new eye art.

I am not very convinced with the way they have come up with the packaging for two reasons.

A. The brushes aren’t very convenient to use, I prefer using my separate brush. Both the compartments have a separate brush, the glitter compartment brush is a thicker (and uncomfortable) version of an eyeliner brush. and the liquid shadow compartment has a brush similar to a lip gloss applicator.

B. From application point of view, the bottle feels heavy and bulky, therefore quite uncomfortable to use.

It looks interesting otherwise, a transparent packaging is always great.

QUALITY & WEARABILITY

Eye-Shadow

I faced major issue blending the eye-shadow, I tried using a brush and finger to blend, but every time it turns out patchy and looks more like a stain. I feel this issue wouldn’t be there with the lighter shades but with this one, I faced difficulty in blending. It dries quickly giving you very little play time.

The good side is that it doesn’t crease and is water resistant.

Glitter

On application the glitter feels sticky, but the issue is resolved as soon as it dries. It take a bit longer to dry compared to the eye shadow but that’s not my concern. The glitter is quite fine and looks really gorgeous and the best part is that there is absolutely no fall out. The sad part here is that you do not get intense glitter line in one stroke, you’ll have to build it up if you are using it as an eyeliner, during the process it turns slightly blotchy.

revlon_eye_art_6

revlon_eye_art_7

It lasts for 5-6 hours and doesn’t crease much. The glitter tends to crease a bit if used over the lids.

RATING

3/5

revlon_eye_art_8

WHY IT COULDN’T MAKE 5/5?

  1. Extremely difficult to smudge, both brush and finger application gives a very patchy finish.
  2. The packaging is bulky to use
  3. The brushes aren’t impressive
  4. Quite pricey

PRICE

$8.99

I hope you found the review useful, let me know if you have given a try to any of the eye art shades.

Colorbar Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner | Review

Colorbar Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

A liquid eyeliner is a great option for a quick go to makeup or an everyday wear. I got this new Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner from Colorbar, which is one of their new launch; and have loved wearing it each day. Read on the detailed review below:

What the brand claims:

“The Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner is long-lasting and does not smudge, crack, flake or peel. With its high definition flexible felt tip applicator, one stroke is enough to define a fine or thick line. Fast drying, Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner is suitable for sensitive eyes and those who wear contact lenses too!”

Packaging

It comes in a small black plastic bottle with the band name and product details printed over. The brush wand has a silver outer body and is quite convenient for application. Talking about the brush, my liking towards  felt tip applicators is not so great. The tip is not at all flexible as claimed by the brand, one has to work with great precision for neatness. Whereas a more flexible tip would have made things more easier. Beginners  might have problems dealing with a brush like this.

colorbar_eyeliner_3

At the same time, it’s non flexible nature helps neater application in the inner corners of the eye, where a flexible tip tends to go messy sometimes.

colorbar_eyeliner_4

Pigmentation

The pigmentation is quite an impressing factor here. It’s deep opaque black and looks quite striking.

colorbar_eyeliner_1

Texture and Quality

I personally like matte eyeliners over glossy finish. This eyeliner come in a matte texture but not matte to an extend that looks dried and stiff, which is a good thing.

I wouldn’t call it waterproof, would rather label it as water resistant. It comes off easily with slight rubbing with water.

colorbar_eyeliner_2

Wear ability

The first day I wore this liner to a mall where it happily lasted for 8-10 hours! But on usual office days where your eyes tend to get watery and tired (which is absolutely not the case when you are out shopping :P) the eyeliner stays neat only up till 4-5 hours after which it starts flaking off a bit.

Price

INR 350/-

You can buy it for INR 340/- HERE

Rating

3.5/5

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

  1. Not absolutely waterproof as the product claims
  2. Tend to fade off after 4-5 hours
  3. The felt tip application make the application slightly challenging

Why 3.5/5?

  1. Loved the pigmentation and texture
  2. Affordable

Let me know if you have used it before, you can also suggest me some of your favorite liquid eyeliners. 🙂

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara | Review

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

A mascara is my essential tool these days and I was thrilled and extremely happy to try out this new launch from Maybelline. The brand has lately come up with really exciting new products one of them being the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

What the brand claims

Lash Sensational® Mascara. This fresh liquid formula captures lashes from root to tip for a full-fan effect.
Exclusive fanning brush with ten layers of bristles reveals layers of lashes for a sensational full-fan effect. Ophthalmologist tested. Suitable for contact lens wearers.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

Packaging

The Body

The mascara comes in a plastic and cardboard outer packaging (which I disposed off in the excitement of trying out the product as soon as it arrived! Totally forgot to take a picture of the outer packaging 🙁 ). Talking of the mascara tube, it’s sturdy plastic and the shape is similar to the colossal mascara tube.

The Wand

The wand, I can say is unique! I am really fond of trying various wands. In fact I personally like plastic bristles wand better. This one has  plastic bristles placed in a unique manner. The inner curve helps apply mascara from the roots to the ends and the outer curve helps fan out the lashes. It’s comfortable for coating the upper lashes. For the lower lashes, it’s slightly a messy affair. I feel a thin comb like wand helps coat lower lashes neatly and in a much better way. But with practice I have gained a better control and the mess has reduced!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

Quality and Wear ability

The mascara is soft creamy in texture which makes it very easy to coat each lash separately. It does dry quickly once applied. It’s intense black color , waterproof nature and it’s ability to last the whole day makes it a superb choice.

It adds a considerable amount of length and volume which increases with every coat. For me 2-3 coats work the best. The images below will help you show the difference it makes.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

How to use/ apply the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

Step 1. Use inner curve to reach the roots of lashes. Sweep from the root to tip of lashes.

Step 2. Use the outer curve for a more fanned out and fuller look. Sweep from the root to tip of lashes.

Step 3. Do not let mascara dry in between coats.

Step 4. Easily remove mascara with Eye Makeup Remover.

Pice: INR 500/-

Rating: 4.5/5

Availabilty: You can buy it online from NYKAA or from the nearest maybelline counter.

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

The application on the lower lashes is slightly difficult.

Brown Smokey Eye Makeup for the day

Brown Smokey Eye

Hello Everyone!

Hope you had a great festive week and I am sure the Diwali excitement must have taken over already… I have been experimenting with a variety of looks these days… Thanks to the festive month! I decided to try on a medium brown smokey eye makeup with a nude glossy lip color. Since I had worn this look for a day outing, I decided to keep it demure yet substantial, so I skipped using a pair of false lashes. Had it been for a night party, I would have surely added a pair of false lashes.

Tips For Wearing Brown Smokey Eye Makeup during the day

  1. DO define your brows. DON’T go too dark.
  2. DO conceal your under eye area if you have dark circles else the brown smokey eye makeup will make you look like Manjulika 😛
  3. Skip dramatic false lashes, if at all required, you can use the individual lashes or a good mascara can do the needful.
  4. DO NOT make the inner corner of the lower lash line too smoked out. (not suitable for a day wear smokey look)
  5. Opt for a medium brown over a dark brown look.
  6. Keep the blush very subtle. DONOT use a bright pink one at all!

How to Remove & Store False Lashes

BeFunky Design

In my previous post I showed you HOW TO APPLY FALSE LASHES, and in this one I shall help you remove them and store for further use.

How to remove false lashes

Removing False Lashes

One must be really careful while removing false lashes as simply pulling them may cause your original lashes to pull off along, causing pain and discomfort.

I have with me, a quick easy way of removing false lashes, for which you shall be needing

  • Tweezers
  • Q-Tips
  • Maybelline Clean Express Total Clean Make-Up Remover

All you need to do is, dip the Q-tip in makeup remover and rub it gently over your lash line. The glue would soon loose bond with the lash line and you will have your falsies removed in no time!

Storing False Lashes

If you store your lashes well, they can be used repeatedly multiple times for a longer period. The best way is to run the Q-tip drenched in makeup remover over the lash band, this will help get rid of the glue and makeup sticking.

You may now store them in the container they were initially stored or or might as well use an empty contact lens case.

The video below will give you a visual aid of the steps. How you find it useful 🙂 If you do, please subscribe!

‘The Blushed Nudes Palette’ by Maybelline – Review

The-Blushed-Nudes-Palette

12th July 2016 4:00 PM

As a regular ritual, I was browsing through MAYBELLINE new launches, as soon as the page loaded… there it was! right at the TOP! The Blushed Nudes Palette!

The Blushed Nudes Palette

What?!?! I have been wanting to own this since I had purchased The Maybelline Nudes Palette , and while browsing through it’s reviews had a glimpse of this pretty pink little palette. Since then I have been checking out the stores but every time returned with disappointment!!

Finally it has arrived in India! “I got to have it right NOW” was all my mind was repeating!

I clicked on the Buy Now button right away and it redirected me to the NYKAA store and the page was down!!!

Huh…

What happened next?

I immediately called my dear partner in crime (my husband 😀) and he took me straight to the mall in the evening in search of it … But nowhere was it seen!

13th July 2016 11:00 AM

I again checked out the NYKAA store and there it was!! yayyy 😀

I ordered it right away!

14th July 2016 12:00 PM

The good weather tempted me to skip work! While I was admiring the weather with a cup of coffee and still dreaming about the palette which shall be arriving soon ….maybe next week… My phone notified me in no time that it was already out for delivery and shall be reaching the very same day!

wait a minute… I was..but not very happy to learn this as it was to arrive at my office address! which meant another day without it!

15th July 2016 6:00 AP

The first thought that came to my mind as I woke up, was all about my reunion with my palette (YES! I am so guilty of being obsessed with makeup!!)

..and the story continues..

I rushed to office and found the NYKAA parcel shining on my desk which was unboxed in no time!

In my hand was the eye-shadow palette of my dreams! Well after a good quality (NOT quantity) time spent admiring those beautiful shades, and imagining how beautifully they can be wore… I quickly resumed to work! After all I have to stay committed to by B.Tech Degree!

10:00 AM

My mommy-in-law called and I couldn’t help myself describing and illustrating my new possession…

10:30 AM

My mommy called and the whole story was repeated again!

The day went by beautifully with the ‘The Blushed Nudes Palette’ safely kept in my bag right next to me…

The Blushed Nudes Palette

And here I am to share my review with you all!

The Blushed Nudes Palette Review

Packaging

It’s comes in an exact case as the Maybelline Nudes Pallete, which is sleek and compact enough, almost the size of my palm. It has a plastic body so you don’t really have to be extra careful handling it. It’s absolutely travel friendly and can slip in conveniently in your sling bag. The brush that comes has an applicator at one end, somewhat a pencil brush at the other very useful for the lash lines. While playing with eye-shadows, a blending brush is a must. I wish there was one in this palette too. It would have added on to its completeness.

It also comes with a colour combination manual at the back, I didn’t find the combinations practically fit for application, I’d rather choose my own fusion.

Texture

All the shades from the palette really are smooth but I am not very happy with the pigmentation part, the colour needs to be built up, the best way I use to do this is by using MAC Fix+ on the brush prior application. It easily glides on to the eyelids and there isn’t much problem of eye-shadow fall off. It doesn’t even crease and the application remains the same throughout the time.

Colour Payoff

It stayed for about 8 hours on my eye Lids (with primer). And approximately for about 5-6 hours without primer. I would recommend that you use an eyeshadow primer as it not only makes the shadow last longer but also make the colour stick to the lids better.

Price

INR 899/-

Rating

3/5

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

  1. I wish he brush provided would have had a proper blending brush to one side.
  2. Most of the shaded look similar on application
  3. The colour intensity needs to be built up.

Glitter Teal Eyeliner

I have been highly obsessed with glitter eye-liners lately or rather I should correct myself and say I am obsessed with glitter ALWAYS!! I wore this beautiful glitter teal eyeliner for a dinner outing last week. Bling in any form looks best when worn at night.  This eye-liner is even more special as it was gifted by a dear friend when we were just out of college in 2011, so it’s like 4 years old!! can be considered vintage 😉 none of my make-up product has been so old and lasted so well!!

10 Minutes to Smokey eyes!

smokey_eyes_1

Hi Everyone!

Classic smokey eyes can never go wrong for any occasion. You can choose the color and intensity depending upon the time of the day and of course the category for outing. Many people have a misconception of a smokey eye makeup, which is, it has to be black and bold all the time. If you too feel that way, allow me to make a correction here…

You can choose absolutely any color for a smokey eye effect ranging from neutral such as soft mauve or plum to dark and intense shades such as navy blue or black.

The shades I have chosen here is black, brown and a dull shimmery greyish-brown from the Maybelline ‘The Nudes Palette’.

Let me show you how you can achieve this look in 10 minutes!

Smokey Eyes in 10 minutes
Smokey Eyes in 10 minutes

And the time starts now….

Step 1

Primer

Use an eye-shadow primer on your lids so that the shadow glides on easily, doesn’t crease and lasts longer.  The primer I have used is from MAC and the shade name is Painterly.

Apply it evenly on the whole of the upper lid and if you do not have one, you can use a concealer, If you happen to run out of a concealer also… go ahead and used a small bit of your foundation.

Time Taken – 00:00:45

Step 2

Eye-Shadow

I have picked the darkest quad form the Maybelline ‘The Nudes Palette’.

Shades used from The Nudes Palette
Shades used from The Nudes Palette

1. Apply Shade number 1 evenly on the upper eyelid.

        Time Taken – 00:00:30

2. Apply Shade number 2 in the crease and the outer half of the upper and lower lid. This steps required enough blending so that no harsh lines are visible.

        Time Taken – 00:01:00

3. Apply Shade number 3 in the inner half of the upper and lower lid and make sure the blending is proper so that the transition between shade 3 and 2 isn’t noticeable.

        Time Taken – 00:00:45

4. Apply shade number 4 in the outer corner and the lash line of the upper and lower lid. Blend Blend Blend!

         Time Taken – 00:00:45

5. Use a Black Kajal to line the upper and lower lid. Making it thicker at the outer 1/3 of the eye and thin as it gradually goes in.

         Time Taken – 00:00:30

6. Repeat the process with shade 4.

         Time Taken – 00:00:30

Time Taken – 00:04:00

Step 3

Mascara

Put lots of Black Mascara on the upper and lower lashes . I used Maybelline Falsies Mascara here.

Time Taken – 00:01:15

Step 4

Lashes

Apply Lashes on the upper lash line. I generally prefer using lashes only on the outer 1/3 of the eye for more natural looking lashes. But in order to dramatise the look you can choose the type and length as per your convenience.

Time Taken – 00:03:30

smokey_eyes_2
The Finished Look

In order to add drama, you can use slight larger amount shade 2 and 4 used above. You can try with various shades and share your experience in comment box below.
