In most of my previous posts, I talked about the importance of wearing a sunscreen on a regular basis… I myself noticed a huge difference in my skin once I started taking this more seriously. After having tried a variety, and being disappointed by so many, I was clear that I was looking for a lightweight formula with absolutely NO white cast! Read on to know more about my current holy grail in the world of sun protection.
I have recently developed a fondness for skincare and trust me it’s fun! I have been diligently following my morning and evening skincare routines for a few months now and I can actually see the good it has done. Not only the visible effects, but the whole idea of indulging in self-pampering sessions like skincare, manicure, hair care brings in a huge amount of feel-good factor. Some of the products have made it to my top skincare favorites and I definitely had to share them with you all.
Drugstore products will always be my favorite!! I have a close relationship with Maybelline, for it was the first brand I started using when I had put my initial steps in the beauty world. It’s affordability and good quality never seizes to impress me! I got my hands on the new CITY KITS face and cheek palette in URBAN LIGHT, have been using it for a week now and here is what I think!
When it comes to skincare, I do understand the importance of it but I like to keep it short and effective. Long elaborated skincare routine can be a bit laborious at times. I like my skincare products to be gentle and effective. Since I have combinational skin, I have to be overparticular about what goes on it because a wrong choice can be miserable! Derma E was generous enough to send me their Anti-Wrinkle Cleanser and Scrub, It’s been a while since I started using these… Read on to know how they turned out for me…

Lately, I have been indulging in skin care products. I am not really a skincare junkie, but I can see myself moving in that direction. The first thing I notice in my skin condition during the change of season is acne and breakouts. I started my morning and night skincare routine with Skin Actives to address this issue. Read on to know what I feel about the Skin Actives acne clearing range.

Skin care is an absolute essential part of the day and this can be made easy and effective with the products that are right for your skin. I received some of the RYOR products from OurHappyBox a few weeks back. I have been using these regularly since then and have noticed some improvements in my skin.
A tinted moisturizer is the best option for your face during everyday summer makeup. The biggest advantage being, that it sits on the skin comfortably without clogging the pores. Also some of them come with SPF which is an added advantage. If you are not very comfortable wearing makeup, a tinted moisturizer can be your good pick. It gives sheer coverage at the same times feels light like a moisturizer. I picked up elf tinted moisturizer in the shade Ivory, it also has an SPF 20, so it looked like a good pick for summers. I have been using this since some time.
This comes in an outer cardboard packaging, inside of which we have a matte black easy squeeze tube packaging. A screw cap ensures that there is no spillage. The nozzle gives control over the quantity.
The shade name is written only on the cardboard packaging and not on the tube, which is quite inconvenient. If you have multiple tubes, then you are going to have a difficult time locating the shade.
Though the packaging doesn’t look very classy, but keeping in mind the affordability of the product, I wouldn’t complaint. The directions for use are written at the back, so that makes it user friendly.
Wearability and Coverage
The tinted moisturizer lasts well for 6 hours. Though the product says that it needs to be reapplied after every 2 hours, but I have been comfortable wearing it for 6 hours.
It gives a sheer to medium coverage. I like it for an everyday use because it looks really natural.
Quality and Texture
Talking of quality and texture, I have noticed a few things her.
The blending is a big issue, If you are applying it with fingers, it takes a little longer to blend into the skin completely. I like to apply it with a damp beauty blender for a more effortless blending.
The products looks slight patchy, if you see closely, you would notice small flaky patches, which disappear if you blend the product in the direction of facial hair.
It sits on the dry patches of the skin, and hence looks flaky.
It feels slightly heavy on the face, but gives a natural velvety matte finish.
This is my first time with stick foundation and I loved it. I am sure I’ll always have one with me. Liquid foundations are a little messy and one needs to handle them with utmost care to avoid spillage. On the contrary, stick foundations are really convenient.. no spillage, travel friendly, and overall I found them better.
It comes in 8 shades, I picked up 120 classic ivory, now the fit me compact is of the same shade and it matches my skin tone really well, but this one is lighter than my skin tone.
I have used the Fit Me Foundation and Compact previously and no doubt I quite liked it. With the stick foundation coming in, It was inevitable to give it a try. So I have used it for about 2 weeks now and here is what I think.
It comes in a plastic body, which I like. The size is quite compact, allowing you to slip in the product conveniently in your travel bag. Another thing quite unique here is, the foundation has an anti-shine powder core, to absorb excess oil.
The foundation has medium coverage. If you have some serious acne, you will have to use correctors and concealers along with this product, though it does manage to camouflage light acne. You can see me wearing it in the picture below, though it did manage to give me a good everyday kind of coverage, it did not cover my acne completely.
QUALITY, APPLICAION & WEARABILITY
The product feels light and is easily blendable if using fingers, I prefer using a damp beauty blender, with which, blending requires a little hard work.
It does give shine free finish. I have a combinational skin, and the foundation did not discriminate between the dry and the oily areas of my face, it glided on smoothly and evenly. Though it does leave a slightly powdery finish, which is noticeable on close observation but on using a fixing spray later can take that away.
It lasts well for about 6-8 hours without any touch up or a fixing spray, or even a compact.
WHY IT COULDN’T MAKE 5/5?
Blending with a beauty blender requires some hard work
Gives a powdery finish, which requires to be worked on
The coverage isn’t buildable, on building up, you would just add on to the powdery finish.
Even the slightest of change in temperature has adverse effects on my skin! Specially when the temperature gets cooler. The area around the nose and lips tends to get utterly dry! These dry patches are not only visible but even become painful most of the time. I have been noticing this discomfort since a long time until last year when I met these 2 amazing and simple hacks that cured acute dryness overnite (sometimes even instantly), which NO high end moisturizers or cold creams could do.
If you too notice dry patches and feel nothing works! Here you go…
1. Lip Balm
Yes! you heard it right 😀 Apply your lip balm (I have tried using Nivea and Neutrogena lip balms) on the dry patches. Let it sit for sometime, meanwhile you can proceed with your daily chores…. Or you can also apply it overnite and wake up to a happier skin!
I love this hack. It’s a quick fix. If heading out, you can use a clear lip balm.
P.S: I have tried the tinted lip balms also and they worked very well, but you might just want to test first if your skin is allergic to the stain (though I am sure all females are designed in a way that ‘Color on the face’ can never do any harm 😀 )
2. Coffee & Honey Scrub Pack
On a Sunday Morning when you are in a mood of some self pampering dose, mix in 1 teaspoon of honey with about 1/2 teaspoon of coffee (instant/filter), mix it well and apply the yummy pack on your face. Scrub and massage gently. Leave it on for 20 minutes and rinse it off. You will thank me for it 😀
P.S: The coffee can be slightly rough so make sure you massage gently with a very light hand.
These 2 hacks are my saviors and I am sure it would work for you as well!
