L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Review

Liquid Powder

Hello Everyone!

Today I am reviewing L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder. As the name suggests, It’s a liquid compact very light weight and looks and feels absolutely natural.

L’Oreal Claims: Get the ultimate un-makeup look with Magic Nude Liquid Powder Bare Skin Perfecting Makeup with SPF 18. Revolutionary liquid transforms on contact, leaving a soft powder like finish. This foundation is so amazingly lightweight it’s like wearing no makeup at all! Just shake and apply – its magic!

Liquid Powder

I am using shade number 316 Nude Beige, you can pick your suitable shade at the L’Oreal counter in any cosmetic store.  I avoid using heavy makeup bases as much as I can. Anything heavy on my face makes me feel tired, I don’t know how that’s related but yes that’s the case with me. It also has SPF 18 which makes it the perfect skin base for this summers!

You can see me wearing it in my blog ‘Casual Everyday Makeup!’

Liquid Powder

I have medium to oily skin during summers due to which I avoid creamy products on the face. This product is recommended for those who have medium to oily skin. People with dry skin may not find it very appealing.

The product review is as follows:

Packaging:  It comes in a glass bottle. I was and still am not very impressed by its packaging. You have to be ultra careful while handling it. Moreover it doesn’t have a nozzle or a pump to control the amount of product that comes out. In order to use it, you’ll simply have to pour the product at the back of your hand with a lot of control as its texture is not much viscous. I hope L’Oreal people would bring in a new and improved packing for easy handling.

Liquid Powder

Texture: It feels really light weight, almost feels like you have diluted your powder compact in water. On application it gives a very soft velvety feel. Gives a Matte finish. But I noticed it tends to look slight powdery / flaky on the sides of the nose,  In fact on close observation it looked slight flaky on the cheeks as well as soon as you apply it ; but in about half and hour, it settles down.

Directions for use:

1. Wash your face and apply a moisturizer.

2. Shake the bottle well, pour it at the back of your hand (2-3 drops approximately).

3. Dot it all over your face and neck and rub it with  fingers. The bottle says that it is not meant to be used with a brush or a sponge.

As per my opinion, you will not see the desired result the very moment you apply it but in about half an hour when the foundation settles down, the perfect texture comes to life!

Coverage and Stay time: It gives light to medium coverage and stays for approximately 6 hours. Perfect for everyday wear.

Price: Rs. 899/-

Availability: L’Oreal counters, NewU stores and online.

Rating: 4.75/5 Highly Recommended

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

1. Mostly because of its “not so convenient” packaging.

2. Slight flaky look on certain areas the moment you apply it also contributes in not making it 5/5 but that can be ignored slightly as it improves with time.

All in all I truly madly deeply loved it and would really recommend it to all you pretty ladies. I would like to go ahead and declare it as one of my favorite makeup base 🙂

The Makeup Base Guide – Part 1

Makeup Base

Hi Everyone!

This blog will be your ultimate guide to choose the right makeup base for various occasions.

There comes a wide variety of makeup bases such as foundations, concealers, compacts, press powders, BB creams, CC creams and the list is endless.

I’ll help you clarify all the doubts you ever had about which one to use and when.

I play with 3 of them, namely:

1. BB cream

2. Foundation

3. Compact

BB Creams

Makeup Base

Talking of BB creams, many of you may not be aware of what exactly they are and their purpose. They are nothing but tinted moisturisers. It’s something between a moisturiser and a foundation.

In fact you can create your own BB cream by mixing a drop of foundation with 2 drops of moisturiser (water based if you have oily skin and oil based if you have dry skin).

They provide you light-medium coverage. And absolutely don’t look and feel as heavy as a foundation.

When do I use them?

1. When I need light coverage, when my skin feels dry.

2. Mostly in wedding/  party makeups as I don’t prefer using foundation

3. In winters, for my everyday makeup.

Which one to use?

I have tried Maybelline and Garnier, I personally like Garnier more (Cost Rs. 200/-) , as it looks more natural comparatively. But if you already have Maybelline one and don’t know how to use it, then you can apply by mixing one drop of BB cream + 1 drop of moisturizer. This will lessen up the heaviness.

Compact

Makeup Base

Compact is a light coverage powder form makeup base. Ideal for oily or semi-oily skin.

When do I use it?

1. Everyday makeup in summers

2. Giving a finished look after applying foundation and concealer (this is only when I do heavy party makeups)

Which one to use?

I have tried Maybelline compact about 2 years back, after which I switched to MAC studio fix in the shade NC 30 (Cost Rs. 2500/-) and I am very much happy with it.

But if you are a beginner, you can start with the Maybelline one (coat approx Rs. 200/-) its not bad, and once you’ve gained the art of applying it, you can switch.

Foundation

Makeup Base

This is used the least. I absolutely don’t prefer using foundations at all. Only when I am doing heavy party makeups and need some concealing, I use very little about of it and use it on the target areas (like acne).

When/ how do I use it?

1. Only as a concealer if required

I generally prefer giving it a miss.

Which one to use?

I am using Maybelline foundation since the beginning and find it good enough. (Cost: Rs. 550/- approx).
