A broken lipstick is as painful as a broken heart! Some of our lipsticks are simply abandoned once broken or distorted! I surely couldn’t bear the separation, hence I decided to fix them. Using these 2 techniques I could restore life in my dead broken lipsticks and so can you! So let’s get started.
Steps to fix broken lipsticks
Step – 1
Use a candle to melt the base of the broken lipstick portion. Make sure you keep a very light hand in doing so, we just need a layer of melted lipstick to act as a glue so that it can stick on to the other portion.
Step – 2
While the base is still melted, quickly place it over the other portion. Let it cool for 10 – 15 minutes and you have your lipstick fixed 😀
Steps to create a palette
Step – 1
Deport the lipstick on a spoon, place it over a candle and let it melt entirely.
Step – 2
Pour this melted lipstick in a lipstick palette/ a spare lens case 😀
Step – 3
Put your freshly fixed lipstick in the freezer for 5-10 minutes and they are ready to be a part of your vanity family once again!
I love summers for the fact that they allow you to be colourful in every aspect! clothes… nail polishes… lipsticks… It’s absolutely okay to go bright on lip colour selection but in my opinion, sheer translucent shades looks cooler and more breathable. One such pretty shade is the limited edition Marks and Spencer Lipstick in the shade “Chiffon”. Chiffon is a sheer soft pink-mauve shade in a creamy-glossy texture with minute glitter particles. Not prominent enough to be tagged as glittery but subtle enough to give an overall shiny look. This can be a good pick for most of you but not a very suitable shade for majority of the skin types. So you must try it once before purchasing.
Packaging: The packaging is very similar to that of ‘Lakme Enrich Satin”collection. A silver case paired with a transparent cap. Basic and simple. Not very impressive though, the lipstick holder isn’t very firm, the lipstick twists and rolls down by itself while applying, so you have to hold it firmly. Moreover the cap doesn’t have a very good locking mechanism.
Quality and Texture: From the very first instance of application, the lipstick feels soft and smooth. Glides on easily and evenly leaving no patchy stains. Overall, it looks and feels soft, creamy and even.
Colour Pay-off: The colour stays intact till the time you do not eat anything. After which.. whoosh! disappeared completely not even leaving behind a mark of its existance! Reapplication is required time and again. On an average stayed on for 5 hours.
Price:INR 599/- for 4gms (But bough it for INR 290/- as there was a sale running on some of the M&S Lipstick collection)
Why it couldn’t make 5/5?
Though marks and spencer Lipstick did a good job at the given price of INR 290/- , had it been for the original price of INR 599/-, the rating would have been lesser.
1. The packaging is too basic and not very sturdy. It kinda says ‘Handle me with care’.
2. The colour last for about 4-5 hours after which it vanishes completely!
I do have quite a few nude beigish-pinkish-brown lipsticks and glosses but a pure “Brown” is not what I prefer. I am more of a “pink-peach” Lover.
For a change I did bring in “Mysterious Mocha”, a creamy matte lipstick from Maybelline (I have reviewed this range here) and well I was quite impressed! Though still not a very big fan! Brown, somehow I feel makes you look dull. In order to prevent myself from looking dull and boring, I wore this pretty mocha shade with a neutral eye-shadow, thick black eye-liner and not-so-heavy face make-up, and I quite liked it. I think the look can be carried off quite well for day or night outings.
If you too are not very fond of a “brown” lipstick but want to wear it and are not sure how to carry it, this can give you a few ideas.
Maybelline has recently launched a new range of creamy matte lipsticks in 20 shades, tough I have come across only 12 of them! I personally prefer matte lipsticks as they are long lasting. But the only reason I ever give it a miss, is how dry and sometimes even patchy it feels during and after application. I picked 4 shades:
1. Peach Personality – It’s a nude orangy peach lipcolor perfect for day or office wear. I have noticed this shade turning slightly patchy, but works well if you apply it with a brush or just rub it slightly with a finger. You can see me wearing it here.
2. Lively Violet – This one is a soft mauve, a shade I have never worn before.
3. Rock the Coral – A bright coral which I often wear during dinners and parties, Its highly pigmented, lasts really long but one thing disappointing about this shade is that it changes color to a bright magenta pink after a few hours! You can see me wearing it here.
4. Mysterious Mocha – A soft brown, browns I usually don’t wear, this is by first buy!
Here is my take on the product:
It comes in a matte black hard plastic case with a strip of color.
The lipstick feels extremely smooth, silky and creamy during and after application. And the look is rich matte. Ever since I have started using this creamy matte range, I have quit using my other matte lipsticks!
The color stays easily for 8 hours, I don’t have to give it a touch up every now and then.
All the shades come with a soft fruity fragrance which makes you want more of it. I absolutely love the soft scent which lasts for about 30 minutes even after the application.
Maybelline is always so pocket friendly!!
4.25/5 (Highly Recommended for Matte Lipstick lovers)
Why it couldn’t make 5/5?
1. Slight patchy look in the shade peach personality
2. Its prabably too soft and fragile, 2 of the 4 lipsticks already broke (got separated from the base, but still very much in a usable condition) inspite of my careful handling!
Hello Everyone, Today I am reviewing Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick in the shade Blush Work (MP10). Its a beautiful coral matte shade with a little golden shimmer that comes in a cute and attractive metallic packaging. But I am not very happy with the product. You will soon know why, But the extremely beautiful shade has still managed to keep its place in my heart 🙂
I have been contemplating a lot over the lakme absolute gloss addict lipsticks, finally purchased 3 of them.
1. Dessert Rose
2. Coral Lustre
3. Bare Beige
All three shades fall in the nude category. Perfect for everyday wear and if you master the art of smoky eyes, these three shades can be your best friends!!
Desert Rose is a pinkish peachish shade, rather more on the pinkish side.
Coral lustre where as is a perfectly peachy orangy shade.
And Bare beige is the beige of my dreams!! Exactly what I have always been looking for!! I have created a look with this shade HERE.
I will soon create a look with each one of them and post.
Packaging It comes in classy metallic case with a transparent cap. Which helps u pick the shade of the day at one go! Absolutely convenient… Apart from this, I noticed something different here, which not many lipstick cases are equipped with; and that is a “locking mechanism” which ensures proper opening and closing of the lipsticks, saves you from the frights where you accidentally put the cap thinking you have twisted your lipstick quite enough while it still remains open…smashing it completely.. Yikess
QualityI would like to go ahead and give it the honour of being one of the best texture ever!! It has a luxurious feel, feels as smooth as a warm knife passing through soft butter. I am still so obsessed by the way it feels that I can’t stop myself from reapplying it time and again. Thumbs up for that!
Color Payoff The color stays for about 3 -4 hours, initially when you apply it, its glossy as the name suggests, but after about 2 -3 hours, its glossiness decreases and leaves a tint behind.
