DIY Pressed Highlighter

pressed highlighter

I love DIYs! They are so much fun and end up giving you a product which is so much cheaper than what it’s sold for… and ofcourse with all the efforts that you put in, in making something all by yourself, makes it even more dear to you! I did a DIY this weekend where I used eye-shadow pigments and turned it into a highlighter and it turned out really amazing!

‘The Blushed Nudes Palette’ by Maybelline – Review

The-Blushed-Nudes-Palette

12th July 2016 4:00 PM

As a regular ritual, I was browsing through MAYBELLINE new launches, as soon as the page loaded… there it was! right at the TOP! The Blushed Nudes Palette!

The Blushed Nudes Palette

What?!?! I have been wanting to own this since I had purchased The Maybelline Nudes Palette , and while browsing through it’s reviews had a glimpse of this pretty pink little palette. Since then I have been checking out the stores but every time returned with disappointment!!

Finally it has arrived in India! “I got to have it right NOW” was all my mind was repeating!

I clicked on the Buy Now button right away and it redirected me to the NYKAA store and the page was down!!!

Huh…

What happened next?

I immediately called my dear partner in crime (my husband 😀) and he took me straight to the mall in the evening in search of it … But nowhere was it seen!

13th July 2016 11:00 AM

I again checked out the NYKAA store and there it was!! yayyy 😀

I ordered it right away!

14th July 2016 12:00 PM

The good weather tempted me to skip work! While I was admiring the weather with a cup of coffee and still dreaming about the palette which shall be arriving soon ….maybe next week… My phone notified me in no time that it was already out for delivery and shall be reaching the very same day!

wait a minute… I was..but not very happy to learn this as it was to arrive at my office address! which meant another day without it!

15th July 2016 6:00 AP

The first thought that came to my mind as I woke up, was all about my reunion with my palette (YES! I am so guilty of being obsessed with makeup!!)

..and the story continues..

I rushed to office and found the NYKAA parcel shining on my desk which was unboxed in no time!

In my hand was the eye-shadow palette of my dreams! Well after a good quality (NOT quantity) time spent admiring those beautiful shades, and imagining how beautifully they can be wore… I quickly resumed to work! After all I have to stay committed to by B.Tech Degree!

10:00 AM

My mommy-in-law called and I couldn’t help myself describing and illustrating my new possession…

10:30 AM

My mommy called and the whole story was repeated again!

The day went by beautifully with the ‘The Blushed Nudes Palette’ safely kept in my bag right next to me…

The Blushed Nudes Palette

And here I am to share my review with you all!

The Blushed Nudes Palette Review

Packaging

It’s comes in an exact case as the Maybelline Nudes Pallete, which is sleek and compact enough, almost the size of my palm. It has a plastic body so you don’t really have to be extra careful handling it. It’s absolutely travel friendly and can slip in conveniently in your sling bag. The brush that comes has an applicator at one end, somewhat a pencil brush at the other very useful for the lash lines. While playing with eye-shadows, a blending brush is a must. I wish there was one in this palette too. It would have added on to its completeness.

It also comes with a colour combination manual at the back, I didn’t find the combinations practically fit for application, I’d rather choose my own fusion.

Texture

All the shades from the palette really are smooth but I am not very happy with the pigmentation part, the colour needs to be built up, the best way I use to do this is by using MAC Fix+ on the brush prior application. It easily glides on to the eyelids and there isn’t much problem of eye-shadow fall off. It doesn’t even crease and the application remains the same throughout the time.

Colour Payoff

It stayed for about 8 hours on my eye Lids (with primer). And approximately for about 5-6 hours without primer. I would recommend that you use an eyeshadow primer as it not only makes the shadow last longer but also make the colour stick to the lids better.

Price

INR 899/-

Rating

3/5

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

  1. I wish he brush provided would have had a proper blending brush to one side.
  2. Most of the shaded look similar on application
  3. The colour intensity needs to be built up.

Products Used

Maybelline Fit Me Compact (Reviewed here)

Maybelline Falsies Mascara

Maybelline Rebel Boutique REB-07 Lipstick (Reviewed here)

Step – 1:

I use Maybelline Fit Me Compact as a base, It comes with an applicator, you wouldn’t really have to reach out for a powder brush.

Also use it over the eyelids to avoid oily lids during the day.

Now take very little amount of REB-07 Lipstick and dab it on to your cheeks. This acts as a cream blush.

Time taken – 00:01:00

Step – 2:

Grab on the Maybelline Falsies Mascara and apply 2 coats on the upper and lower lashes. I absolutely love this mascara. It instantly adds length and volume. You will have to be careful here to avoid any sort of injury to the eye in the moving car.

Time taken – 00:01:30

Step – 3:

Now comes the final and the last step! Take out your weapon and wear it on! The lipstick I mean 😛

I use REB-07 quite often, It’s a beautiful bright pink shade and lasts all day without touch-ups 🙂 It’s a year old now and is still my favorite.

Time taken – 00:00:30

So that completes the look! You now have rest of the time to be merrily spent sight seeing and chatting 🙂

Nail Polish Haul From Nykaa

nail pilish

With every empty nail polish bottle tossed into the dustbin, I feel my energy level decrease! Now was the time to refill my nail polish hoard.

Every visit to the makeup counter urges me to grab those colorful shiny new bottles of polishes, Of course my generous husband doesn’t mind the purchase, but my shopaholic guilt pulls me back!! 🙁

One fine day, in my recreation hour when I was sipping hot coffee, watching the rain dancing through my office window, heard a notification on my phone from Nykaa that made me jump out of me seat with joy… It was FLAT 25% OFF ON MAYBELLINE… Yayyyyy… 😀 ….I threw my shopaholic guilt wrap away, I had to.. now was the time to buy all that has been listing in my mind; so I went ahead to explore!

Without looking left and right (remember the shopaholic guilt… It was still there keeping a watch over me!!) I headed straight to the Maybelline-> Nail Polish section and picked 8 glorious shades!!

(1) Coral Craze (Rs 110/- Rs. 83/-) – It’s one of the bestest best coral shade I have come across so far. I have already used a bottle before, this one is my second purchase and that explains my love for it 🙂

(2) Orange Fix (Rs 110/- Rs 75/-) – A pretty peppy orange shade. A lot can be done with this. You can see me wearing it HERE.

(3) Porcelain Party (Rs 110/- Rs 83/-) -Would use it mainly for french manicures or for drawing white fowers.

(4) Blackout (Rs. 100/- Rs. 75/-) – Not a big fan of black nail polishes though.. but you need to have a basic black polish for nail arts!

(5) Buried Treasure (Rs. 100/- Rs. 64/-) – This looks quite interesting.. It has a chrome finish.. really excited to try it out.

(6) Rose Poudre (Rs. 350/- Rs. 263/-) – I have been eyeing this one since a while now!! so soo sooo excited to wear this beautiful mauve-pink-brown-nude shade.

(7) Sun Kissed  (Rs. 350/- Rs. 263/-) – Can’t tell you how much I have craved it ever since I first saw it!! Love at first sight exists!!!

(8) French Manicure  (Rs. 350/- Rs. 263/-) – DID YOU KNOW?!?! the only reason why I could never wear a french manicure was because I lacked the perfect base shade…. here , I have it now.. 😀 you will now be seeing lots of french manicure happening!!

The last first 5 polishes are from the Color Show Collection and the last 3 are from Forever Strong Super Stay Collection (reviewed HERE)
