DIY Highlighting Concealer

DIY Highlighting concealer

I had been looking for a concealer since long, was oscillating between Maybelline Fit Me concealer and the L’oreal true match concealer but then one fine day while I had my creativity hat on, a beauty hack struck me and I ended up with a DIY highlighting concealer!

DIY Highlighting concealer

It’s not only absolutely cheap but also works really well, in fact, I have been wearing it very often ever since I made it.

The beauty of DIYs is that you can customize the product as per your own convenience and requirement. Here you can modulate the highlighting effect by controlling the amount of eye-shadow going in.

You will need

A white highlighting eye-shadow

(The one I used is from a local brand)

Now we don’t really want the eye shadow to be very highlighting, it should be just enough to brighten up the areas where applied

Foundation of your skin tone

(Maybelline Fit Me – 115 Ivory Ivoire)

The highlighting concealers that you get in the market are lighter than your skin tone (and that’s why they brighten up the areas where applied) but here we will be needing the foundation of your matching skin tone, because the eye-shadow when added will lighten and brighten up the shade.

A container for storage

You can get really good containers from Forever21 or NewU stores.

NYX Butter Gloss | Review & Swatch

NYX_Butter_Gloss_Review

NYX Butter Gloss *sigh*… Isn’t the name itself so luxurious! Well, I had to give it a shot.

I got the NYX Butter Gloss in the shade BLG01 Strawberry Parfait as a gift from the man behind the cause of all the indulgence! My Husband!

NYX Butter Gloss

The shade is a pretty pink with a hint of mauve and gives sheer coverage. It glides on smoothly and evenly giving a luxurious glossy finish! Absolutely wearable for everyday office or college. Here is a detailed review of the product for you all.

Packaging

The gloss comes in a plastic tube of same shade as the gloss, quite cute and simple, nothing much to say.

NYX_Butter_Gloss_1

Texture

AWESOME! LOVED IT! The texture actually feels smooth and buttery with even and smooth application. It doesn’t feel greasy or sticky instead it feels quite light.

NYX Butter Gloss

Colour Pay-off

Well, I was disappointed to see how quickly the color disappears completely on snacking leaving absolutely no traces. So you can say that it last upto 4 hours (without eating/ drinking) and vanishes completely after a meal. It requires re-application throughout the day which isn’t very impressive. Due to it’s poor colour pay-off, It cannot be a great option for functions, weddings or parties.

Price

Rs. 550/-

Availability

You can buy it online at NYKAA or at SEPHORA stores.

Rating

3/5

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

  1. The gloss vanishes completely after every meal or snacking leaving no trace of color at all.
  2. The price is slightly higher for the given quantity.

DIY BB Cream

DIY BB Cream

A foundation is not recommended for everyday use, that we all know. A BB cream can be a very good option to give the much needed coverage when opting an everyday base. Of course we have a wide variety of brands offering BB creams but I love the one made by me, the most.

Here is another DIY blog, on how to make your own BB Cream at home. DIYs are a great way to customize your beauty products and needless to say, they turn out much cheaper.

The recipe of this DIY BB Cream works amazingly well for, don’t think I would invest on a branded one after having this made.

DIY BB Cream

Products Used

Nivea Soft Moisturizer

Qty: 3/4 tsp

This moisturizer works well for oily, normal or combinational skin, you can use any other water based or oil based (for dry skin) moisturizer that works best for you. Available online HERE.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

Qty: 1 tsp

The shade I used is 115 Ivory Ivoire, you can read a detailed review of this foundation HERE, again this too can be as per your preference. You can increase or decrease the amount of foundation depending upon the amount of coverage you want. Available online HERE.

Aloe Vera-Cucumber Gel from green leaf

Qty: 3/4 tsp

The gel gives the goodness of a primer, helps the BB cream stick to the skin and hence last longer. It is available at grocery marts. Incase you don’t find it, you can use 1/2 tsp glycerin instead.

Container

I used a small nivea soft container, you might as well use a pump bottle for a more fancy packaging. You can get really good containers from Forever21 or NewU stores.

3 Steps To Classic Black & Gold Nails

Black and Gold

Black and Gold is surely a classic combination and looks alluring on nails as well!

Black and Gold

You shall need

Maybelline New York 25 Crystal Clear/Base Transparent

Maybelline Blackout

Maybelline Gold Gluttony

You can buy these shades online from NYKAA

Here is a quick 3 step process to get these sassy black and gold nails to flaunt this weekend.

Step 1

Apply a coat of Maybelline New York 25 Crystal Clear/Base Transparent Nail Polish, this is important as dark polishes tend to leave behind stains on the nails, a base coat can lessen this to a great extend!

Step 2

Apply 2 coats of Maybelline Blackout, let it dry before you proceed to the next step

Step 2

Apply 1-2 coats of Maybelline Gold Gluttony form the gold digger collection (reviewed HERE) depending upon the bling intensity you wish to have (I applied a coat here).

Black and Gold

Wasn’t that simple?! Do give it a try and let me know your views in the comment section below!

The Blushed Nudes In Action

Blushed Nudes

I have used the Maybelline Blushed Nudes a dozen times now and have loved each and every look! It creates the perfect subtle look exactly the way I like. While reviewing the palette I did mention that the eye shadows aren’t pigmented enough, and the shades aren’t much distinguishable; I guess that’s the whole idea behind the ‘Nudes Palette’ anyway I have been loving it a lot and reach out for it on every occasion! Here is one of the look I wore this weekend using the blushed nudes palette.

You can buy the palette form NYKAA

Blushed Nudes

Shade A – Used to highlight the brow bone and in the inner corner of the eye

Shade B – Used on the upper crease and to line the lower lid

Shade C – Used on the upper lid

DIY Cream Blush

DIY Cream Blush

A cream blush is one of my favorite product, it not only gives a more natural look, but is also more long lasting compared to a powder blush; and yes of-course it’s a great option for monsoons. If you don’t have one, you can do it yourself!

‘The Blushed Nudes Palette’ by Maybelline – Review

The-Blushed-Nudes-Palette

12th July 2016 4:00 PM

As a regular ritual, I was browsing through MAYBELLINE new launches, as soon as the page loaded… there it was! right at the TOP! The Blushed Nudes Palette!

The Blushed Nudes Palette

What?!?! I have been wanting to own this since I had purchased The Maybelline Nudes Palette , and while browsing through it’s reviews had a glimpse of this pretty pink little palette. Since then I have been checking out the stores but every time returned with disappointment!!

Finally it has arrived in India! “I got to have it right NOW” was all my mind was repeating!

I clicked on the Buy Now button right away and it redirected me to the NYKAA store and the page was down!!!

Huh…

What happened next?

I immediately called my dear partner in crime (my husband 😀) and he took me straight to the mall in the evening in search of it … But nowhere was it seen!

13th July 2016 11:00 AM

I again checked out the NYKAA store and there it was!! yayyy 😀

I ordered it right away!

14th July 2016 12:00 PM

The good weather tempted me to skip work! While I was admiring the weather with a cup of coffee and still dreaming about the palette which shall be arriving soon ….maybe next week… My phone notified me in no time that it was already out for delivery and shall be reaching the very same day!

wait a minute… I was..but not very happy to learn this as it was to arrive at my office address! which meant another day without it!

15th July 2016 6:00 AP

The first thought that came to my mind as I woke up, was all about my reunion with my palette (YES! I am so guilty of being obsessed with makeup!!)

..and the story continues..

I rushed to office and found the NYKAA parcel shining on my desk which was unboxed in no time!

In my hand was the eye-shadow palette of my dreams! Well after a good quality (NOT quantity) time spent admiring those beautiful shades, and imagining how beautifully they can be wore… I quickly resumed to work! After all I have to stay committed to by B.Tech Degree!

10:00 AM

My mommy-in-law called and I couldn’t help myself describing and illustrating my new possession…

10:30 AM

My mommy called and the whole story was repeated again!

The day went by beautifully with the ‘The Blushed Nudes Palette’ safely kept in my bag right next to me…

The Blushed Nudes Palette

And here I am to share my review with you all!

The Blushed Nudes Palette Review

Packaging

It’s comes in an exact case as the Maybelline Nudes Pallete, which is sleek and compact enough, almost the size of my palm. It has a plastic body so you don’t really have to be extra careful handling it. It’s absolutely travel friendly and can slip in conveniently in your sling bag. The brush that comes has an applicator at one end, somewhat a pencil brush at the other very useful for the lash lines. While playing with eye-shadows, a blending brush is a must. I wish there was one in this palette too. It would have added on to its completeness.

It also comes with a colour combination manual at the back, I didn’t find the combinations practically fit for application, I’d rather choose my own fusion.

Texture

All the shades from the palette really are smooth but I am not very happy with the pigmentation part, the colour needs to be built up, the best way I use to do this is by using MAC Fix+ on the brush prior application. It easily glides on to the eyelids and there isn’t much problem of eye-shadow fall off. It doesn’t even crease and the application remains the same throughout the time.

Colour Payoff

It stayed for about 8 hours on my eye Lids (with primer). And approximately for about 5-6 hours without primer. I would recommend that you use an eyeshadow primer as it not only makes the shadow last longer but also make the colour stick to the lids better.

Rating

3/5

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

  1. I wish he brush provided would have had a proper blending brush to one side.
  2. Most of the shaded look similar on application
  3. The colour intensity needs to be built up.
