I love summers for the fact that they allow you to be colourful in every aspect! clothes… nail polishes… lipsticks… It’s absolutely okay to go bright on lip colour selection but in my opinion, sheer translucent shades looks cooler and more breathable. One such pretty shade is the limited edition Marks and Spencer Lipstick in the shade “Chiffon”. Chiffon is a sheer soft pink-mauve shade in a creamy-glossy texture with minute glitter particles. Not prominent enough to be tagged as glittery but subtle enough to give an overall shiny look. This can be a good pick for most of you but not a very suitable shade for majority of the skin types. So you must try it once before purchasing.
Packaging: The packaging is very similar to that of ‘Lakme Enrich Satin”collection. A silver case paired with a transparent cap. Basic and simple. Not very impressive though, the lipstick holder isn’t very firm, the lipstick twists and rolls down by itself while applying, so you have to hold it firmly. Moreover the cap doesn’t have a very good locking mechanism.
Quality and Texture: From the very first instance of application, the lipstick feels soft and smooth. Glides on easily and evenly leaving no patchy stains. Overall, it looks and feels soft, creamy and even.
Colour Pay-off: The colour stays intact till the time you do not eat anything. After which.. whoosh! disappeared completely not even leaving behind a mark of its existance! Reapplication is required time and again. On an average stayed on for 5 hours.
Price:INR 599/- for 4gms (But bough it for INR 290/- as there was a sale running on some of the M&S Lipstick collection)
Why it couldn’t make 5/5?
Though marks and spencer Lipstick did a good job at the given price of INR 290/- , had it been for the original price of INR 599/-, the rating would have been lesser.
1. The packaging is too basic and not very sturdy. It kinda says ‘Handle me with care’.
2. The colour last for about 4-5 hours after which it vanishes completely!
Galaxy nailart is something every nail artist has to try at least once! It looks gorgeous and I can admire these for hours! The best part about galaxy nail art is that you do not need any perfection or symmetry! You can go random, choose your own colour schemes, choose any patter.. and when put together it comes our mesmerizing!
Spring has arrived and so has the spring make-up trend! Of course there is no such rule book that says what shades to wear and what not to wear. Generally speaking, light make-up goes quite well during this time. If you are bored of pinks or peaches and want to bringing in a twist, yet maintain the subtle, soft fresh look… Mauve is the shade for you! Though not a very universal shade but yes a soft mauve makeup can be worn with quite a number of options like black, grey, purple or silver.
Here is how I chose to wear it for a day outing. I paired soft matte mauve lip shade with a glitter mauve winged liner (was too bored with the black-liner routine) and used highlighter for the extra dewy look. I was happy with the overall look and I am sure would suite most of you.
I do have quite a few nude beigish-pinkish-brown lipsticks and glosses but a pure “Brown” is not what I prefer. I am more of a “pink-peach” Lover.
For a change I did bring in “Mysterious Mocha”, a creamy matte lipstick from Maybelline (I have reviewed this range here) and well I was quite impressed! Though still not a very big fan! Brown, somehow I feel makes you look dull. In order to prevent myself from looking dull and boring, I wore this pretty mocha shade with a neutral eye-shadow, thick black eye-liner and not-so-heavy face make-up, and I quite liked it. I think the look can be carried off quite well for day or night outings.
If you too are not very fond of a “brown” lipstick but want to wear it and are not sure how to carry it, this can give you a few ideas.
Maybelline has been up with new products one after the other since last few months and Maybelline Hyper Matte Eyeliner is one of those! I surely couldn’t afford to give it a miss as I wear a matte black liner almost everyday to work.
Prior this I have used Maybelline Gel Liner, Maybelline Collosal Liner, Lakme Shine lineLiner. All in matte black.
Lakme Shine Line Liner was a disappointment! It cracked a lot at the inner 1/4th corner of the eye and ended up looking messy and too dry! Since then I was just taken aback by liquid eye-liners…
Maybelline being my all-time favourite, managed a place in my kit. Have been using it since a week now and here is what I think about the product.
Sleek and very light! It comes in a black and white plastic body (thank god! no handle-with-care hassle). The brush is thin enough.. not super thin I would say! The bristles have the perfect length and the brush feels really light while applying which ensures better control and application.
Product on Application
The liquid has a good enough consistency. It’s neither too thin nor too thick. On application it takes about half a minute to dry and turn matte. If you’ve used Lakme Shine Line liner, I would say that this one doesn’t look as matte as the lakme one. Also, this one doesn’t crack much in the inner 1/4th corner of the eye like the lakme liner did, but cracking is still there.
It’s water proof and smudge proof as the product claims for itself.
It stays well for 8 hours. I can easily spend my day at work with this on!
It’s readily available online and at all the maybelline counters.
Why It couldn’t make 5/5
1. The price seemed slightly higher for the given quantity.
2. It tends to crack in the inner corner of the eyes
I am a big BIG fan of bling and pink! and when teamed, they are the best option for party nails! I used Maybelline “hooked-on-pink” as the base coat, holographic silver on the tips (not available in India, you can get in online.) lined with silver glitter particles (purchased online) to get this look.
You can try out your own combinations and create something new.
Glitter ALWAYS makes me so happy! This is what I wore for the last weekend party and I adored it! You can play along with as many and which ever colours you like. The reason for which I chose this combination is because it matched my outfit really well!
Red and Gold is an ever classic combination and the safest to play with when getting decked up for a close wedding and want to choose a dramatic look. For this classic red gold makeup, I chose to pair glitter gold eye make-up with a bold red matte lip color. Since the two shades spoke for themselves, I kept a loose hand at the blush. A highlighter is inevitable!
