‘The Nudes Palette’ by Maybelline – Review

The Nudes Palette

It’s been a month since the new Maybelline eye-shadow palette called ‘The Nudes Palette’ is in town and its been available in the stores since a week now! I finally managed to get my hands on it!!

About 2 months back I accidentally stumbled upon it while I was surfing the net and since then, have been counting days for its launch in India.

Packaging

After a very long I have come across a really attractive, handy packaging for eye-shadow palettes. It’s sleek and compact enough, almost the size of my palm. It has a plastic body so you don’t really have to be extra careful handling it. It’s absolutely travel friendly and can slip in conveniently in your sling bag. It comes with a little sponge brush. Many of you might just toss it away… but, this can be helpful in smudging the shadow on the lash lines. While playing with eye-shadows, a blending brush is a must. I wish there was one in this palette too. It would have added on to its completeness.

Texture

I found all the shades from the nudes palette really smooth and appropriately pigmented. It easily glides on to the eyelids and there isn’t much problem of eye-shadow fall off. It doesn’t even crease and the application remains the same throughout the time.

Colour Payoff

It stayed for about 8 hours on my eye Lids (with primer). And approximately for about 5-6 hours without primer. I would recommend that you use an eyeshadow primer as it not only makes the shadow last longer but also make the colour stick to the lids better.

13 Looks in one palette

The best thing about most of the Maybelline eyeshadow palettes is that it comes with a little lookup guide at the back. So even if you are a new bee in the world of makeup and don’t know which color combinations to go for or which shade to apply where, the guide at the back will come to your rescue!!
The shades can be worn as duos, trios or quads depending upon the occasion and the kind of intensity you want. I am so thrilled and excited to try all the 13 looks that can be created with this 1 single palette.

Availability

Since its new and hot selling, its availability is a little limited. Its out of stock most of the times. You can find it in Lifestyle, Shoppers Stop, New U stores or even online at nykaa.com.

Rating 4.75/5 Highly Recommended

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

The absence of a blending brush makes the pallet incomplete, for every application I have to reach out to my eyeshadow brush. Even while travelling I need to make sure I carry a separate eyeshadow brush, without which the application is not possible for me. Maybe they should have put a brush like the one un urban decay eyeshadow palette 2 & 3 which had a blending brush on one end and an application brush on the other.

Maybelline has also come up with ‘The Blushed Nudes Palette’, you can check out the full review HERE.

L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Review

Liquid Powder

Hello Everyone!

Today I am reviewing L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder. As the name suggests, It’s a liquid compact very light weight and looks and feels absolutely natural.

L’Oreal Claims: Get the ultimate un-makeup look with Magic Nude Liquid Powder Bare Skin Perfecting Makeup with SPF 18. Revolutionary liquid transforms on contact, leaving a soft powder like finish. This foundation is so amazingly lightweight it’s like wearing no makeup at all! Just shake and apply – its magic!

Liquid Powder

I am using shade number 316 Nude Beige, you can pick your suitable shade at the L’Oreal counter in any cosmetic store.  I avoid using heavy makeup bases as much as I can. Anything heavy on my face makes me feel tired, I don’t know how that’s related but yes that’s the case with me. It also has SPF 18 which makes it the perfect skin base for this summers!

You can see me wearing it in my blog ‘Casual Everyday Makeup!’

Liquid Powder

I have medium to oily skin during summers due to which I avoid creamy products on the face. This product is recommended for those who have medium to oily skin. People with dry skin may not find it very appealing.

The product review is as follows:

Packaging:  It comes in a glass bottle. I was and still am not very impressed by its packaging. You have to be ultra careful while handling it. Moreover it doesn’t have a nozzle or a pump to control the amount of product that comes out. In order to use it, you’ll simply have to pour the product at the back of your hand with a lot of control as its texture is not much viscous. I hope L’Oreal people would bring in a new and improved packing for easy handling.

Liquid Powder

Texture: It feels really light weight, almost feels like you have diluted your powder compact in water. On application it gives a very soft velvety feel. Gives a Matte finish. But I noticed it tends to look slight powdery / flaky on the sides of the nose,  In fact on close observation it looked slight flaky on the cheeks as well as soon as you apply it ; but in about half and hour, it settles down.

Directions for use:

1. Wash your face and apply a moisturizer.

2. Shake the bottle well, pour it at the back of your hand (2-3 drops approximately).

3. Dot it all over your face and neck and rub it with  fingers. The bottle says that it is not meant to be used with a brush or a sponge.

As per my opinion, you will not see the desired result the very moment you apply it but in about half an hour when the foundation settles down, the perfect texture comes to life!

Coverage and Stay time: It gives light to medium coverage and stays for approximately 6 hours. Perfect for everyday wear.

Price: Rs. 899/-

Availability: L’Oreal counters, NewU stores and online.

Rating: 4.75/5 Highly Recommended

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

1. Mostly because of its “not so convenient” packaging.

2. Slight flaky look on certain areas the moment you apply it also contributes in not making it 5/5 but that can be ignored slightly as it improves with time.

All in all I truly madly deeply loved it and would really recommend it to all you pretty ladies. I would like to go ahead and declare it as one of my favorite makeup base 🙂

5 Steps to clean your makeup brushes!

makeup brushes

Hello Everyone,

Many of us probably ignore the importance of thoroughly cleaning makeup brushes regularly.

Unclean makeup brushes can be really infectious and can cause much more harm that you thing. Its really advisable to clean your makeup brushes at regular intervals. I choose to do it once in every 45 days.

Here are the steps to follow:

Step – 1

Take  a bowl, fill it with water at  room temperature and Put 2 – 3 drops of mild shampoo in it.

Step – 2

For, Lipstick, eyeliner, concealer/ foundation brushes or any other brushes that contain water proof/ highly pigmented makeup on it,  use a Makeup remover (I use maybelline makeup remover) to clean it first before proceeding to next step. For the eye-shadow, blush, powder brushes, you can skip this step.

5 Minutes Make-Up Challenge!

5 Minutes Make-Up

Hi Everyone!

My blog for the day will help you with make-up when you have absolutely no time in hand. I follow this scenario when I am getting late for an outing and have no time to spend on elaborated makeup.

Step – 1:

Put compact all over your face and neck with a big fat powder brush. A good brush can really quicken the process.

Time taken – 00:00:50

Step – 2:

Put on some blusher on the cheeks. Swipe the same brush on the eyelids (the left over product on the brush shall be good enough for an everyday makeup look). This will add warmth to the face.

Time taken – 00:00:45

Step – 3:

Put on a brown eyeliner using a pencil, A pencil really helps put eyeliner quickly, its absolutely okay if your line is not perfect because we are going to smudge it in the next step.

Time taken – 00:01:00

Step – 4:

Use a brush to smudge the eyeliner you’d just put. Make sure you do this as soon as you apply it as with the course of time the liner tends to dry out and the smudging becomes time consuming and even the look of it doesn’t turn out to be as desired.

Time taken – 00:01:00

Step – 5:

Use the same brush (with no extra product), and stain the lower outer corner of the eye, giving just a tint of color.

Time taken – 00:00:30

Step – 6:

Put on some Mascara

Time taken – 00:00:30

Step – 7:

Use a lip gloss/lipstick

Time taken – 00:00:25

How I organize my makeup!

organize makeup

Hi everyone!

I thought of sharing with you all how I arrange and organize my makeup, this might give you some tips.

organize makeup

1. Nayasa plastic drawers

These are very helpful in keeping little makeup tools / equipments in place which you generally tend to misplace and have to do without it at the hour of need.

DSC00511

I use this to store all the eye/ lip pencils (along with the sharpener) in one drawer, tools such as tweezers, eyelash curler etc. in the other and all the liquid liners in the third drawer.

You can get this easily from any store selling plastic items.

2. Acrylic lipsticks/ lip gloss organizer

This one keeps all my lip color together. I use a section of it to hold my makeup brushes and Q tips. The rest of the space is taken up by lipsticks and lip glosses. Very convenient.

I got this from home stop.

3. A simple acrylic organizer with compartments

This helps store face products,eye-shadow pallets, lipstick pallet, lashes and other miscellaneous items.

This one too I got from Home Stop.

4. Lipstick Palette

This is a lipstick palette which I made on my own. I deported most of my lipstick shades to this palette, its very convenient when you are travelling, and even helps you bring in use broken lipsticks. You can even recreate your own shade by mixing 2 or more lipsticks. There is a lot you can do while making a lipstick palette.

Hope you found it useful. Do share your thoughts with me 🙂

Maybelline glitter mania review!

Maybelline glitter mania

Matte finish glitter nail polish

Today I am reviewing the Maybelline glitter mania collection. Though this range is a few months old now, but for those who aren’t aware, this post may be helpful.

It comes in 8 shades, I have 5 of these.

This is an amazing glitter collection, makes your nails look dipped in glitter.

Packaging: it comes in the standard Maybelline color show bottles, nice and compact.

Texture: It gives a unique matte look, feels like glitter sand put on your nails, though very unique and attractive but the feel of it can be irritating at times.

Price: Rs. 125/-

Availability: Any cosmetic store or online.

Durability: Once worn, it lasts upto approximately 5 days

Rating: 4.5/5

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

1. The sandy feel is a little annoying

2. The removal process takes a lot of time (a very common problem of glitter nail polishes).
