I am very particular and finicky about moisturising my hands after every wash, which I do 6-8 times a day. I like my hands clean, moisturised and smelling good all the time. The Body Shop Hand cream is what I have been raving about. Today’s blog post is all about this newly found love of mine…
With a light, gel-like and absorbent consistency, these juicy tubes will have your hands hydrated and scented with uplifting fragrances.
It comes in various fragrances to choose from!!
The one I picked is Frosted Cranberry and here are my views on it.
It comes in a smooth gel-like consistency, absolutely non sticky or non greasy! You just need a drop of this cream on your freshly washed and wiped hands for the magic to begin! You can use this in summers as well as winters.
Once you start applying, It feels like a non-greasy non sticky substance which your hands would quickly absorb, leaving a coat of soft and silky finish all over. It gives an instantly visibly soft fresh feel. The moisturization last well for about 3-4 hours and once you start using it, its addictive! (In a good way I mean) It feels so good on your hands that you would want to use it soon again!! Also the soft scent left behind is a treat!
Apart from all the goodness, it also comes with SPF 15!! I would surely encourage all you hand cream lovers to give it a try once in your lifetime for sure!
INR 495/- for 30 mL (Though the price is hight, due to which I myself was contemplating the purchase but the tube would last you much longer and the quality is totally worth it!)
First of all, a very Happy New Yearto eachone of you lovely readers! With the onset of this beautiful year, Maybelline has something new and exciting to share with us. Its a range of face products, the Fit Me! range, consisting of :
But here in India we only have Foundation, Compact, Concealer and Blush to try! I was really excited when I first saw its launch on Instagram, It somehow looked very new and exciting to me!
The foundation comes in 16 shades but in the stores I could see only 6 shades. Probably we have lesser shades launched in India. Luckily the shade matching my skin tone was available.
What Maybelline claims:
” Beyond matching skin tone, it fits skin’s texture.
WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT
A natural complexion sets the stage for whatever look you’re planning to rock. With Fit Me!® Dewy +Smooth foundation you’ll get a flawless foundation that’s all your own with light to medium coverage and a dewy finish.
WHAT IT’S BEST FOR
Contains SPF 18.
Normal to dry skin ”
I picked up the foundation and the compact and here are the reviews for it:
Fit Me! Foundation
It comes in a classy packaging, a transparent bottle with a black cap, somehow reminded me of the MAC liquid foundation cases, with the difference being, this one is has a cuboid body whereas the MAC Foundation case is cylindrical. Also both of them do not have a nozzle or a pump to control the amount of product that comes out which was a turn off when I first saw it! I generally like bottles with a pump, its lot more easier to regulate the quantity.
Fit Me! Compact
It’s black and transparent packaging is quite sturdy. It has 2 layer compartments, one for the compact and the other for the sponge and a mirror attached. Its designed in a travel friendly manner and I so love travel friendly products as I am travelling often.
Quality/ The Look
Fit Me! Foundation
The foundation has a matte and smooth finish on application, It felt quite like the Lorea’l Liquid Powder Foundation . It doesn’t feel creamy, it will take some effort in blending for an even application. Also It tends to look slight flaky if you do not blend well. In-spite of hard word done in the blending process, it looked quite flaky around the nose and close to the chin. It took about 20-30 minutes to set and look natural. Also it doesn’t cover pores as well as it claims. My overall experience with it is just satisfactory! It provides light to medium coverage and is best suited for people with normal to oily skin, for dry skin people, the product will tend to be too flaky.
My Shade – 115 Ivory Ivoire
Fit Me! Compact
Now this one is surely not similar to any other compact I have come across so far! What makes it different is that its a perfect blend of a compact + shimmer. The shimmer is subtle enough to be worn all over the face . It gives a very slight sheen. Its light and spreads evenly. It gives lightto medium coverage matte effect and meant for people with normal to oily skin type.
My Shade – 120 Classic Ivory
The foundation and the compact both last well upto 8 hours after which it just looses its charm.
Fit Me! Foundation : INR 525/-
Fit Me! Compact : INR 475/-
Fit Me! Foundation : 3/5
Fit Me! Compact : 4/5
Why it couldn’t make 5/5?
The foundation tends to look flaky and needs time to settle and look natural.
The foundation doesn’t cover pores very well.
The foundation bottle needed a nozzle!
The sponge in the compact case is too thin for a proper application, I every time have to run for a powder brush.
January is a special month of the year for me! Apart from it being my Birthday month, it’s also a month that marked an onset to this website of mine!
I do not remember the exact date, but it was January 2015 for sure that took my hobby to a next level, and all thanks to the inspiration, motivation, freedom and push given to me by my husband!
I discovered this colorful world when I was in my college 3rd year, before that, in school I was more of a Tom-boy and in college 1st and 2nd year I was going though the transition phase of a Tom-Boy turned Girlie! 😀 But again even during the college 3rd and 4th year my vanity case comprises of only colorful eyeliners and nail polishes! That was all, that fascinated me! It was mainly after I got engaged in April 2013 that this fascination took a steep turn and I started exploring my hand on makeup! And since then life has been colorful 😀
My Profession and Blogging
I am a Senior Software Engineer by profession and a Beauty Blogger by choice! With 5 days working, and weekends all about house-care-taking and outings, I am practically left with no time for blogging; but then this is where “Love for Blogging” helps me find time for all of this!
I am so looking forward to posting Makeup Tutorials and Video blogs. Maybe I shall start doing it this year and will talk about my experience with it on Makeupmagique’s 2nd Anniversary! 😀
I hope you all enjoy reading my blogs and find them useful, do share in your comments and let me know what you think.
I have been experimenting a lot with various looks and hairdo this wedding season, and have yet another look for you to try. This look is a soft coral wedding makeup. It works best with coral/ navy blue outfits.
Not many colours used here! You can also opt for this look when you want to go light on your makeup or simply want to give your self a break from the face paint! I paired it up with a half-tied-out curls hairdo, made from a flat Iron.
Maybelline has launched breathtakingly gorgeous range in Nail Polishes, by the name of Gold Digger! Ideal for this peak wedding season. It’s a collection of 6 glittery nail polishes, 3 top coats and 3 opaque nail polishes that can be worn alone. I picked 4 of these (2 top coats and 2 opaque polishes). They are a quick solution to the wedding season manicure. Let me walk you through each one of the shades I picked.
1. Gold Gluttony– This one is a top coat, it has asymmetrical gold flakes which look really good on bright coral shades. The size of a gold flake is good enough, in 1-2 coats you can get about 20-30% of your nail glitter coated! And of course depending upon how intense you want to go on glitter, you can increase the number of coats.
Its lasts for about 7 days without chipping! which I think is fantastic!
2. Bling Thing – I found this one super-duper gorgeous, It has black and gold glitter in big and small sizes. It can be teamed up with a red, orange, gold, beige base coat and in 1 coat it gives 30-40% glitter coverage! It too last for about 7 days without chipping.
3. Gold-me-baby – Thins one can to be worn alone (without a top coat). It has super fine semi-holographic silver glitter fibres. In 2 coats you can get nice glossy silver nails with bling! It last for about 4-5 days without chipping!
4. Gilded Rose– This one is pretty skin tone peach glitter polish whose texture is exactly same as the “Glitter Mania Collection”, I was not very excited after wearing it as I was looking for something different from the Sand Paper like texture which maybelline has already launched before. But talking about the shade, Its really pretty and elegant and can match most of your outfits! It gives full coverage in 2-3 coats (3 in my case) and lasts for 5-6 days!
Price: Rs. 145/- each (Maybelline is always so pocket friendly 🙂 )
With the wedding season in full swing, I have a series of party/ wedding looks for you all to try. One of which is a Gold Rust Makeup look which I would be talking about in this Blog. This looks works best with Black, Gold, Maroon or Rust coloured outfits.
Here the eyes are kept less dramatic as my Lipstick shade is dark enough to add drama. On the eyes I used a soft gold on the lids and a brownish-copper on the outer V. Softly lining the eyes, Avoiding a dense line of Kohl instead paying attention just on the outer 1/4th of the eye for a wider and bigger look.
I have used a pretty rust-copperish lipstick here from maybelline, named ‘Keep Me Coral’
The wedding season is at its peak. With the growing traffic one is always in a hurry to leave home early! These beauty hacks can bring you at ease in the hustle bustle, quicken the whole process of getting ready and is also travel friendly!!
If your hair are done well, you are dressed up 90% already (remaining 5% effort to clothing and makeup each). Even if you fall in the category of women who do not prefer makeup, still a good hairdo can effortlessly increase your glamour level! A quick and travel friendly hack for this is to use a Flat Hair Ironing Machine. You can use this to straighten, curl, out turn or In turn your hair! 1 tool 4 looks!! I have been using Remington hair straightener for ages now and its my perfect solution to any king of hair styling I want.
With the hustle of shopping, getting ready, leaving for the venue early to avoid jams, one often decides to give nails a miss!! Here is a hack for that! Use a quick dry nail polish like maybelline dry in 40 seconds, or quick dry range from Revlon or Lakme. One of the reason why I am a big BIG fan of Maybelline Nail polishes is because of how quick they are in drying! The moment you start applying and reach the 5th finger, the first 2 are dried already! So one doesn’t really have to go through the traditional ‘Nail Polish applying steps’ of apply-wait-wait-wait instead its apply-admire for a few seconds and good to go! Top it up with a glittery top coat for the extra oomph!
Highlighter! Highlighter! Highlighter! For an instant fresh glowing radiant look! I use the one from Mac and it gives a beautiful glow! You can use it on the cheek bone, brow bone, even on the eyelids. Pair it up with a bright lip color, eyeliner and Lootttsss of Mascara, ready to go!!
Hope these hacks will help quicken and ease the whole process of getting ready! Let me know your experiences!
Classic smokey eyes can never go wrong for any occasion. You can choose the color and intensity depending upon the time of the day and of course the category for outing. Many people have a misconception of a smokey eye makeup, which is, it has to be black and bold all the time. If you too feel that way, allow me to make a correction here…
You can choose absolutely any color for a smokey eye effect ranging from neutral such as soft mauve or plum to dark and intense shades such as navy blue or black.
1. Apply Shade number 1 evenly on the upper eyelid.
Time Taken – 00:00:30
2. Apply Shade number 2 in the crease and the outer half of the upper and lower lid. This steps required enough blending so that no harsh lines are visible.
Time Taken – 00:01:00
3. Apply Shade number 3 in the inner half of the upper and lower lid and make sure the blending is proper so that the transition between shade 3 and 2 isn’t noticeable.
Time Taken – 00:00:45
4. Apply shade number 4 in the outer corner and the lash line of the upper and lower lid. Blend Blend Blend!
Time Taken – 00:00:45
5. Use a Black Kajal to line the upper and lower lid. Making it thicker at the outer 1/3 of the eye and thin as it gradually goes in.
Time Taken – 00:00:30
6. Repeat the process with shade 4.
Time Taken – 00:00:30
Time Taken – 00:04:00
Put lots of Black Mascara on the upper and lower lashes . I used Maybelline Falsies Mascara here.
Time Taken – 00:01:15
Apply Lashes on the upper lash line. I generally prefer using lashes only on the outer 1/3 of the eye for more natural looking lashes. But in order to dramatise the look you can choose the type and length as per your convenience.
Time Taken – 00:03:30
In order to add drama, you can use slight larger amount shade 2 and 4 used above. You can try with various shades and share your experience in comment box below.
Bright eye-shadows such as blue, green, purple look really amazing if worn correctly. Bright blue eye liners/ eye-shadows have always been my favourite since college time, But one has to be really careful wearing a daring shade like this during the day for a casual outing. Let me show you how!
