2015 Wedding season beauty hacks!

Hi Everyone!

The wedding season is at its peak. With the growing traffic one is always in a hurry to leave home early! These beauty hacks can bring you at ease in the hustle bustle, quicken the whole process of getting ready and is also travel friendly!!

1. Hair

If your hair are done well, you are dressed up 90% already (remaining 5% effort to clothing and makeup each). Even if you fall in the category of women who do not prefer makeup, still a good hairdo can effortlessly increase your glamour level! A quick and travel friendly hack for this is to use a Flat Hair Ironing Machine. You can use this to straighten, curl, out turn or In turn your hair! 1 tool 4 looks!! I have been using Remington hair straightener for ages now and its my perfect solution to any king of hair styling I want.

With the hustle of shopping, getting ready, leaving for the venue early to avoid jams, one often decides to give nails a miss!! Here is a hack for that! Use a quick dry nail polish like maybelline dry in 40 seconds, or quick dry range from Revlon or Lakme. One of the reason why I am a big BIG fan of Maybelline Nail polishes is because of how quick they are in drying! The moment you start applying and reach the 5th finger, the first 2 are dried already! So one doesn’t really have to go through the traditional ‘Nail Polish applying steps’ of apply-wait-wait-wait instead its apply-admire for a few seconds and good to go! Top it up with a glittery top coat for the extra oomph!

Wedding Special Nails

Highlighter! Highlighter! Highlighter! For an instant fresh glowing radiant look! I use the one from Mac and it gives a beautiful glow! You can use it on the cheek bone, brow bone, even on the eyelids. Pair it up with a bright lip color, eyeliner and Lootttsss of Mascara, ready to go!!

Hope these hacks will help quicken and ease the whole process of getting ready! Let me know your experiences!

10 Minutes to Smokey eyes!

Hi Everyone!

Classic smokey eyes can never go wrong for any occasion. You can choose the color and intensity depending upon the time of the day and of course the category for outing. Many people have a misconception of a smokey eye makeup, which is, it has to be black and bold all the time. If you too feel that way, allow me to make a correction here…

You can choose absolutely any color for a smokey eye effect ranging from neutral such as soft mauve or plum to dark and intense shades such as navy blue or black.

The shades I have chosen here is black, brown and a dull shimmery greyish-brown from the Maybelline ‘The Nudes Palette’.

Let me show you how you can achieve this look in 10 minutes!

Smokey Eyes in 10 minutes
Smokey Eyes in 10 minutes

And the time starts now….

Step 1

Use an eye-shadow primer on your lids so that the shadow glides on easily, doesn’t crease and lasts longer.  The primer I have used is from MAC and the shade name is Painterly.

Apply it evenly on the whole of the upper lid and if you do not have one, you can use a concealer, If you happen to run out of a concealer also… go ahead and used a small bit of your foundation.

Time Taken – 00:00:45

Step 2

I have picked the darkest quad form the Maybelline ‘The Nudes Palette’.

Shades used from The Nudes Palette

1. Apply Shade number 1 evenly on the upper eyelid.

        Time Taken – 00:00:30

2. Apply Shade number 2 in the crease and the outer half of the upper and lower lid. This steps required enough blending so that no harsh lines are visible.

        Time Taken – 00:01:00

3. Apply Shade number 3 in the inner half of the upper and lower lid and make sure the blending is proper so that the transition between shade 3 and 2 isn’t noticeable.

        Time Taken – 00:00:45

4. Apply shade number 4 in the outer corner and the lash line of the upper and lower lid. Blend Blend Blend!

         Time Taken – 00:00:45

5. Use a Black Kajal to line the upper and lower lid. Making it thicker at the outer 1/3 of the eye and thin as it gradually goes in.

         Time Taken – 00:00:30

6. Repeat the process with shade 4.

         Time Taken – 00:00:30

Time Taken – 00:04:00

Step 3

Put lots of Black Mascara on the upper and lower lashes . I used Maybelline Falsies Mascara here.

Time Taken – 00:01:15

Step 4

Apply Lashes on the upper lash line. I generally prefer using lashes only on the outer 1/3 of the eye for more natural looking lashes. But in order to dramatise the look you can choose the type and length as per your convenience.

Time Taken – 00:03:30

The Finished Look

In order to add drama, you can use slight larger amount shade 2 and 4 used above. You can try with various shades and share your experience in comment box below.

Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks – Review

Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks

Hi Everyone,

Maybelline has recently launched a new range of creamy matte lipsticks in 20 shades, tough I have come across only 12 of them! I personally prefer matte lipsticks as they are long lasting. But the only reason I ever give it a miss, is how dry and sometimes even patchy it feels during and after application. I picked 4 shades:

Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks

1. Peach Personality – It’s a nude orangy peach lipcolor perfect for day or office wear. I have noticed this shade turning slightly patchy, but works well if you apply it with a brush or just rub it slightly with a finger. You can see me wearing it here.

2. Lively Violet – This one is a soft mauve, a shade I have never worn before.

3. Rock the Coral – A bright coral which I often wear during dinners and parties, Its highly pigmented, lasts really long but one thing disappointing about this shade is that it changes color to a bright magenta pink after a few hours! You can see me wearing it here.

4. Mysterious Mocha – A soft brown, browns I usually don’t wear, this is by first buy!

Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks

Here is my take on the product:

It comes in a matte black hard plastic case with a strip of color.

Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks

The lipstick feels extremely smooth, silky and creamy during and after application. And the look is rich matte. Ever since I have started using this creamy matte range, I have quit using my other matte lipsticks!

Color Stay

The color stays easily for 8 hours, I don’t have to give it a touch up every now and then.

Fruity Fragrance

All the shades come with a soft fruity fragrance which makes you want more of it. I absolutely love the soft scent which lasts for about 30 minutes even after the application.

Rs 325/-

Maybelline is always so pocket friendly!!

4.25/5 (Highly Recommended for Matte Lipstick lovers)

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

1. Slight patchy look in the shade peach personality

2. Its prabably too soft and fragile, 2 of the 4 lipsticks already broke (got separated from the base, but still very much in a usable condition) inspite of my careful handling!

Maybelline Fashion Brow Duo Shaper – Review!

Maybelline Fashion Brow

Hi Everyone!

I recently bought this, much talked about maybelline fashion brow duo shaper. I have been longing for something like this. I did come across a brow pencil from MAC which costed about Rs. 1400/- but didn’t feel like spending that much on it. Since here in India we have very limited options for eyebrow styling, this one surely deserves a place in your vanity kit.

Its Micro-mechanical pencil delivers precise application for evenly defined brows and Smear-proof formula wears all day.

Maybelline Fashion Brow
Maybelline Fashion Brow – Pencil

Packaging:Very interesting I must say, there is a thin mechanical pencil at one end and a sponge with the same colour mineral pigments at the other. The pencil helps in filling up gaps and provide a definition to the brows, whereas the pigmented sponge on the other end smoothens out the harsh lines.

Price: Rs. 245/-

Availability: Online, Lifestyle, NewU stores

Stay time: It easily stays on me for the whole day till I don’t wash my face. Its even smudge poof.

Rating: 5/5

How to use?

1. Use the pencil to fill in any gaps and to shape the base line of the brow.

2. Run the pigmented sponge brush over for a more intense and natural look.

August 2015 Makeup Favorites!!

Makeup Favorites

Hi Everyone!!

Lemme walk you all through my Makeup Favorites for the month of August, these are the ones I have preferred using most of the time.

1. L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder

This has been a perfect makeup base for everyday and for special occasions as I prefer light weight medium coverage base. I love the perfect velvety matte finish it gives to the skin. But in a week or so I shall be switching back to BB creams. Its almost offset of summers and my skin has started to be less oily and more flaky on the sides of my nose and lips. Its time to put this product to hibernation, I shall now bring it back in use next summers only.

Makeup Favorites

2. Maybellin Rebel Boutique Lipstick REB-07

This perfectly pastel pink creamy-matte long lasting lipstick has come to my rescue almost every time I am in a hurry and can’t spend hours coordinating the perfect makeup look. It somehow happens to match my every outfit, all the time! I don’t have to worry about reapplying it as it stays for more than 8 hours.

Makeup Favorites

3. ‘The Nudes Palette’ by Maybelline

‘The Nudes Palette’ is so sleek and compact that I have been carrying it every time I am travelling. Its texture is smooth and easily glides on to the lids and has a lasting finish. Moreover the shades are so wearable and the look up guide at the back is a time saver! It saves me a lot of time, looking for the perfect combination.

Indian Wedding Makeup

I created this ”Indian Wedding Makeup” look long back, just couldn’t find time to post it. Here, I paired copper eye makeup with pastel pink lips, paying special attention towards the skin to make it look flawless for which I used a BB cream as a base, foundation for concealing and a compact to seal it all. After which I used a blush and highlighter to get the finished look. I follow this routine whenever I do wedding makeups, not otherwise.
