DIY Highlighting Concealer

DIY Highlighting concealer

I had been looking for a concealer since long, was oscillating between Maybelline Fit Me concealer and the L’oreal true match concealer but then one fine day while I had my creativity hat on, a beauty hack struck me and I ended up with a DIY highlighting concealer!

It’s not only absolutely cheap but also works really well, in fact, I have been wearing it very often ever since I made it.

The beauty of DIYs is that you can customize the product as per your own convenience and requirement. Here you can modulate the highlighting effect by controlling the amount of eye-shadow going in.

You will need

A white highlighting eye-shadow

(The one I used is from a local brand)

Now we don’t really want the eye shadow to be very highlighting, it should be just enough to brighten up the areas where applied

Foundation of your skin tone

(Maybelline Fit Me – 115 Ivory Ivoire)

The highlighting concealers that you get in the market are lighter than your skin tone (and that’s why they brighten up the areas where applied) but here we will be needing the foundation of your matching skin tone, because the eye-shadow when added will lighten and brighten up the shade.

A container for storage

You can get really good containers from Forever21 or NewU stores.

DIY BB Cream

DIY BB Cream

A foundation is not recommended for everyday use, that we all know. A BB cream can be a very good option to give the much needed coverage when opting an everyday base. Of course we have a wide variety of brands offering BB creams but I love the one made by me, the most.

Here is another DIY blog, on how to make your own BB Cream at home. DIYs are a great way to customize your beauty products and needless to say, they turn out much cheaper.

The recipe of this DIY BB Cream works amazingly well for, don’t think I would invest on a branded one after having this made.

Products Used

Nivea Soft Moisturizer

Qty: 3/4 tsp

This moisturizer works well for oily, normal or combinational skin, you can use any other water based or oil based (for dry skin) moisturizer that works best for you. Available online HERE.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

Qty: 1 tsp

The shade I used is 115 Ivory Ivoire, you can read a detailed review of this foundation HERE, again this too can be as per your preference. You can increase or decrease the amount of foundation depending upon the amount of coverage you want. Available online HERE.

Aloe Vera-Cucumber Gel from green leaf

Qty: 3/4 tsp

The gel gives the goodness of a primer, helps the BB cream stick to the skin and hence last longer. It is available at grocery marts. Incase you don’t find it, you can use 1/2 tsp glycerin instead.

I used a small nivea soft container, you might as well use a pump bottle for a more fancy packaging. You can get really good containers from Forever21 or NewU stores.
