Red Lips + Glitter Gold Eyes

red_gold makup1

The classic red gold makeup

Red and Gold is an ever classic combination and the safest to play with when getting decked up for a close wedding and want to choose a dramatic look. For this classic red  gold makeup, I chose to pair glitter gold eye make-up with a bold red matte lip color. Since the two shades spoke for themselves, I kept a loose hand at the blush. A highlighter is inevitable!

10 Minutes to Smokey eyes!

smokey_eyes_1

Hi Everyone!

Classic smokey eyes can never go wrong for any occasion. You can choose the color and intensity depending upon the time of the day and of course the category for outing. Many people have a misconception of a smokey eye makeup, which is, it has to be black and bold all the time. If you too feel that way, allow me to make a correction here…

You can choose absolutely any color for a smokey eye effect ranging from neutral such as soft mauve or plum to dark and intense shades such as navy blue or black.

The shades I have chosen here is black, brown and a dull shimmery greyish-brown from the Maybelline ‘The Nudes Palette’.

Let me show you how you can achieve this look in 10 minutes!

Smokey Eyes in 10 minutes

And the time starts now….

Step 1

Primer

Use an eye-shadow primer on your lids so that the shadow glides on easily, doesn’t crease and lasts longer.  The primer I have used is from MAC and the shade name is Painterly.

Apply it evenly on the whole of the upper lid and if you do not have one, you can use a concealer, If you happen to run out of a concealer also… go ahead and used a small bit of your foundation.

Time Taken – 00:00:45

Step 2

Eye-Shadow

I have picked the darkest quad form the Maybelline ‘The Nudes Palette’.

Shades used from The Nudes Palette

1. Apply Shade number 1 evenly on the upper eyelid.

        Time Taken – 00:00:30

2. Apply Shade number 2 in the crease and the outer half of the upper and lower lid. This steps required enough blending so that no harsh lines are visible.

        Time Taken – 00:01:00

3. Apply Shade number 3 in the inner half of the upper and lower lid and make sure the blending is proper so that the transition between shade 3 and 2 isn’t noticeable.

        Time Taken – 00:00:45

4. Apply shade number 4 in the outer corner and the lash line of the upper and lower lid. Blend Blend Blend!

         Time Taken – 00:00:45

5. Use a Black Kajal to line the upper and lower lid. Making it thicker at the outer 1/3 of the eye and thin as it gradually goes in.

         Time Taken – 00:00:30

6. Repeat the process with shade 4.

         Time Taken – 00:00:30

Time Taken – 00:04:00

Step 3

Mascara

Put lots of Black Mascara on the upper and lower lashes . I used Maybelline Falsies Mascara here.

Time Taken – 00:01:15

Step 4

Lashes

Apply Lashes on the upper lash line. I generally prefer using lashes only on the outer 1/3 of the eye for more natural looking lashes. But in order to dramatise the look you can choose the type and length as per your convenience.

Time Taken – 00:03:30

In order to add drama, you can use slight larger amount shade 2 and 4 used above. You can try with various shades and share your experience in comment box below.

Indian Wedding Makeup

IMG_20150510_203908172

I created this ”Indian Wedding Makeup” look long back, just couldn’t find time to post it. Here, I paired copper eye makeup with pastel pink lips, paying special attention towards the skin to make it look flawless for which I used a BB cream as a base, foundation for concealing and a compact to seal it all. After which I used a blush and highlighter to get the finished look. I follow this routine whenever I do wedding makeups, not otherwise.

The Makeup Base Guide – Part 1

Makeup Base

Hi Everyone!

This blog will be your ultimate guide to choose the right makeup base for various occasions.

There comes a wide variety of makeup bases such as foundations, concealers, compacts, press powders, BB creams, CC creams and the list is endless.

I’ll help you clarify all the doubts you ever had about which one to use and when.

I play with 3 of them, namely:

1. BB cream

2. Foundation

3. Compact

BB Creams

Makeup Base

Talking of BB creams, many of you may not be aware of what exactly they are and their purpose. They are nothing but tinted moisturisers. It’s something between a moisturiser and a foundation.

In fact you can create your own BB cream by mixing a drop of foundation with 2 drops of moisturiser (water based if you have oily skin and oil based if you have dry skin).

They provide you light-medium coverage. And absolutely don’t look and feel as heavy as a foundation.

When do I use them?

1. When I need light coverage, when my skin feels dry.

2. Mostly in wedding/  party makeups as I don’t prefer using foundation

3. In winters, for my everyday makeup.

Which one to use?

I have tried Maybelline and Garnier, I personally like Garnier more (Cost Rs. 200/-) , as it looks more natural comparatively. But if you already have Maybelline one and don’t know how to use it, then you can apply by mixing one drop of BB cream + 1 drop of moisturizer. This will lessen up the heaviness.

Compact

Makeup Base

Compact is a light coverage powder form makeup base. Ideal for oily or semi-oily skin.

When do I use it?

1. Everyday makeup in summers

2. Giving a finished look after applying foundation and concealer (this is only when I do heavy party makeups)

Which one to use?

I have tried Maybelline compact about 2 years back, after which I switched to MAC studio fix in the shade NC 30 (Cost Rs. 2500/-) and I am very much happy with it.

But if you are a beginner, you can start with the Maybelline one (coat approx Rs. 200/-) its not bad, and once you’ve gained the art of applying it, you can switch.

Foundation

Makeup Base

This is used the least. I absolutely don’t prefer using foundations at all. Only when I am doing heavy party makeups and need some concealing, I use very little about of it and use it on the target areas (like acne).

When/ how do I use it?

1. Only as a concealer if required

I generally prefer giving it a miss.

Which one to use?

I am using Maybelline foundation since the beginning and find it good enough. (Cost: Rs. 550/- approx).
