We are not very far from the onset of wedding season. I am so thrilled to share with you all some really useful makeup looks. I love opting blingy looks when I am going out to attend weddings, I just feel that’s the best time to bring those glitters in action.
The festive season is almost on and this inspires me to get out of my neutral makeup comfort zone and try on some bling. Here is a look comprising of soft smoked out eye makeup with some loose glitter. In the tutorial, I will also be showing you how to apply loose glitter particles so that they stay for longer. This look can be perfect for weddings too and would work well across skin tones.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was all about catching up with pending tasks… this week is surely going to be serious blogging. Lots of posts coming your way 🙂
Lately, I have been loving a lot of gold and bling looks. I created this one with lots of gold and a pop of turquoise and I can already tell from your response on my Instagram post that you guys loved it!! This was intended to be up last week itself but my video editing software refused to cooperate!
There has been a lot on my plate lately… I hope you miss watching my videos as much as I miss creating them 🙂
So here is what I wore today. I am so much in love with colored eyeliners. When it comes to a deep royal, sort of midnight blue, it pairs best with a soft brown, beige or old rose pink. I decided to bring them all together and quite liked the look. In spite of the off track blue, the look is a perfect day wear and some bling can transform it to a night look too.
My current makeup routine is quick, simple and super versatile. It’s extremely handy these days and I am so much liking it. Also keeping in mind the weather, I like to keep the look fresh, glowy and soft. This look can be pulled of comfortably by every skin tone and is a perfect day wear.
A deep plum makes an amazing eye shadow and suits quite a lot of skin tones. This is one of my favorite eye shadow shade. Here is a look that I created using a deep plum eye shadow and some glitter. It’s a perfect look for evening outings, parties or weddings. I have tried to make tutorial extremely simple. Hope you enjoy watching!
Palettes are my favorite! Most brands recently have come up with amazing face palettes. I got one from Maybelline and it’s in the shade 10 (Light to Medium), they also have a variant for medium to deeper skin tones which is numbered 20. I have been using the Maybelline Master Contour Palette for some time now and here is what I think…
The shape and size of this palette is same as the maybelline nudes collection palette (the nudes, the blushed, nudes, the rock nudes…) which I think is superb for the fact that it is extremely compact and travel friendly and of course maintains a symmetry in your palette corner.
It comes with 3 pans, with the purpose and order of use defined on it. It clearly states 1. Contour, 2. Blush, 3. Highlight, also at the back of the palette, there are clear instructions for the usage which makes it really user friendly.
It also comes with a brush which I will only use as an eyeshadow blending brush. Unfortunately it’s absolutely not suitable for the intended purpose. Again there isn’t any mirror which is so sad.
The contour shade worked really well for me. It’s highly pigmented and easily bendable. I like using it along the jaw line, slightly beneath the cheeks and along the nose. It does a good job in sculpting the face.
I really loved the pretty pastel pink tone they have given to the blush. It is perfectly wearable, super pigmented and again blends really well. The contour and the blush duo is my favorite in this little black box.
I had high hopes here but unfortunately I feel this is the downside to the palette. The highlighter doesn’t have any gleam to it. Even upon building it upto 4 layers, a faint glow is all that you get. I prefer using it over a cream highlighter or on the eyelids.
$9.99 to $12.99 (I saw it for $9.99 at Walmart and $12.99 at Rite Aid)
Why it couldn’t make 5/5?
- The highlighter isn’t fierce enough.
- The brush that comes along fails miserably
- The packaging lacks a mirror
OTHER PRODUCT REVIEWS
New York being the home town of Maybelline has a huge… like HHUUGGEE.. range of products to offer.. unfortunately in India we get a limited access to their products. I am sure I would visit their counter very often than any other place during my stay in the city.
I was astounded when I first saw their gigantic collection.. I so wanted to have it all at once!
Letting the self control take over, I chose the much raved about pore eraser cream (have been longing for this since the longest time) and one of their new born baby, the color sensational creamy matte nudes lipstick in the shade Almond Rose.
Almond Rose is such a pretty shade, I knew, I wanted it as soon as I saw the name and the swatch sticker…. Even without swatching it on the back of my hand and taking a closer look at the shade, I knew it was coming home with me.
The pore eraser cream on the other hand is one of the highly effective and affordable makeup primer.
The detailed review of the products would follow very soon once I am done analyzing them.
Hope you had a great festive week and I am sure the Diwali excitement must have taken over already… I have been experimenting with a variety of looks these days… Thanks to the festive month! I decided to try on a medium brown smokey eye makeup with a nude glossy lip color. Since I had worn this look for a day outing, I decided to keep it demure yet substantial, so I skipped using a pair of false lashes. Had it been for a night party, I would have surely added a pair of false lashes.

Tips For Wearing Brown Smokey Eye Makeup during the day
- DO define your brows. DON’T go too dark.
- DO conceal your under eye area if you have dark circles else the brown smokey eye makeup will make you look like Manjulika 😛
- Skip dramatic false lashes, if at all required, you can use the individual lashes or a good mascara can do the needful.
- DO NOT make the inner corner of the lower lash line too smoked out. (not suitable for a day wear smokey look)
- Opt for a medium brown over a dark brown look.
- Keep the blush very subtle. DONOT use a bright pink one at all!

There are times (well, most of the time) when you want to reach out for an ultra quick nail art solution. This nail art can be a good quick option.
Nail Polishes Used
Maybelline Orange Fix
Maybelline Bling Thing
All you need to do is, On 2 generous base coats (Orange Fix used here) you need to apply a glitter top coat (Bling thing used here) at the ends. You can apply the top glitter coat with a sponge like I did, for high glitter density OR simply with the nail polish brush.
