Soft Bronze Smoky Eyes

Soft Bronze Smoky Eyes

Bronze can be a very interesting option when choosing a smoky eye effect. It gives the required drama without being exaggerated. Also one thing to be kept in mind is, a smoky eye is paired best with a soft pastel lip shade, can be glossy, matte or creamy. In this look, I have paired soft bronze smoky eyes with a creamy nude brown lip shade.

Soft Bronze Smoky Eyes

For the eyes I have used the quad¬†from ‘The Nudes Palette’ from Maybelline, reviewed here.

For the face, As usual uses a sheer coverage for a more natural look. I absolutely detest a veneer of foundation or compact, the reason for which I use it is to give a finish and control oil or shine on my face, absolutely NOT to redefine my complexion.

For the lips I used a shade created and invented my ME ūüėÄ (I mixed all the leftovers and got this beautiful shade), but I can help you find a dupe of it, its Maybelline (yes maybelline again! I am such a Maybelline Lover! I hope they notice this and start sending me free makeup ūüėõ) Totally Toffee Lipstick, you can use it for a very similar look.

Quick Summer Makeup

summer makeup

Summers are my absolute favourite for the fact that all the colours are at my disposal and I have the power to use them in anyway! Here is a quick summer makeup which is quite colourful and gives a fresh bright look.

summer makeup

Coloured eye-liners have always been my obsession. They instantly add ¬†an exciting twist to your makeup. The eyeliner I am wearing here is Maybelline Colossal Kajal in the shade Crushed Emerald. Though the colour is attractive and beautiful, but the fact that the¬†product smudges after a few hours and doesn’t retain the sharp neat look, disappoints me. Otherwise it can be happily worn for a few (4-5) hours.

One of the base I often use for summers is the Loreal Liquid Powder which is reviewed here. I really like it for summers for its all-day-shine-free look.

The lip colour is from one of my favourite range, the Lakme Gloss Addict Lipstick in the shade Coral Lustre, reviewed here. This range is all about sheer translucent shades which work so well during summers (well, even winters!). You must have one of the shade from this range. It’s a must have!

A detailed list of products used in this look are listed below.

Marks and Spencer Lipstick – Review

marks and spencer Lipstick

I love summers for the fact that they allow you to be colourful in every aspect! clothes… nail polishes… lipsticks… It’s absolutely okay to go bright on lip colour selection but in my opinion, sheer translucent shades looks cooler and more breathable. One such pretty shade is the¬†limited edition¬†Marks and Spencer¬†Lipstick in the shade “Chiffon”. Chiffon is a sheer¬†soft pink-mauve shade in¬†a creamy-glossy¬†texture¬†with minute glitter particles. Not prominent enough to be tagged as glittery but subtle enough to give an overall shiny look. This can be a good pick for most of you but not a very suitable shade¬†for majority of the skin types. So you must try it once before purchasing.

marks and spencer Lipstick

Packaging:¬†The packaging is very similar to that of ‘Lakme Enrich Satin”collection. A silver case paired with a transparent cap. Basic and simple. Not very impressive though, the lipstick holder isn’t very firm, the lipstick twists and rolls down by itself while applying, so you have to hold it firmly. Moreover the cap doesn’t have a very good locking mechanism.

marks and spencer Lipstick

Quality and Texture: From the very first instance of application, the lipstick feels soft and smooth. Glides on easily and evenly leaving no patchy stains. Overall, it looks and feels soft, creamy and even.

marks and spencer Lipstick

Colour Pay-off: The colour stays intact till the time you do not eat anything. After which.. whoosh! disappeared completely not even leaving behind a mark of its existance! Reapplication is required time and again. On an average stayed on for 5 hours.

marks and spencer Lipstick

Price: INR 599/- for 4gms (But bough it for INR 290/- as there was a sale running on some of the M&S Lipstick collection)

Rating: 3.5/5

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

Though marks and spencer Lipstick did  a good job at the given price of INR 290/- , had it been for the original price of INR 599/-, the rating would have been lesser.

1. The packaging is too basic and not very sturdy. It kinda says ‘Handle me with care’.

2. The colour last for about 4-5 hours after which it vanishes completely!

The Mauve Dose

Soft Mauve Makeup look for day outings

Spring has arrived and so has the spring make-up trend! Of course there is no such rule book that says what shades to wear and what not to wear.¬†Generally speaking, light make-up goes¬†quite well during this time. If you are bored of pinks or peaches and want to bringing in a twist, yet maintain the subtle, soft fresh look… Mauve is the shade for you!¬†Though not a very universal shade but yes a soft mauve makeup can be worn¬†with quite a number of options like black, grey, purple or silver.

Here is how I chose to wear it for a day outing. I paired soft matte mauve lip shade with a glitter mauve winged liner (was too bored with the black-liner routine) and used highlighter for the extra dewy look. I was happy with the overall look and I am sure would suite most of you.

Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks – Review

Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks

Hi Everyone,

Maybelline has recently launched a new range of creamy matte lipsticks in 20 shades, tough I have come across only 12 of them! I personally prefer matte lipsticks as they are long lasting. But the only reason I ever give it a miss, is how dry and sometimes even patchy it feels during and after application. I picked 4 shades:

maybelline_creamy_matte
Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks

1. Peach Personality ‚Äď It’s a nude orangy peach lipcolor perfect for day or office wear. I have noticed this shade turning slightly patchy, but works well if you apply it with a brush or just rub it slightly with a finger. You can see me wearing it here.

2. Lively Violet ‚Äď This one is a soft mauve, a shade I have never worn before.

3. Rock the Coral ‚Äď A bright coral which I often wear during dinners and parties, Its highly pigmented, lasts really long but one thing disappointing about this shade is that it changes color to a bright magenta pink after a few hours!¬†You can see me wearing it here.

4. Mysterious Mocha ‚Äď A soft brown, browns I usually don’t wear, this is by first buy!

Here is my take on the product:

Packaging

It comes in a matte black hard plastic case with a strip of color.

maybelline_creamy_matte_2

Texture

The lipstick feels extremely smooth, silky and creamy during and after application. And the look is rich matte. Ever since I have started using this creamy matte range, I have quit using my other matte lipsticks!

Color Stay

The color stays easily for 8 hours, I don’t have to give it a touch up every now and then.

Fruity Fragrance

All the shades come with a soft fruity fragrance which makes you want more of it. I absolutely love the soft scent which lasts for about 30 minutes even after the application.

Maybelline is always so pocket friendly!!

Rating

4.25/5 (Highly Recommended for Matte Lipstick lovers)

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

1. Slight patchy look in the shade peach personality

2. Its prabably too soft and fragile, 2 of the 4 lipsticks already broke (got separated from the base, but still very much in a usable condition) inspite of my careful handling!

August 2015 Makeup Favorites!!

Makeup Favorites

Hi Everyone!!

Lemme walk you all through my Makeup Favorites for the month of August, these are the ones I have preferred using most of the time.

1. L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder

This has been a perfect makeup base for everyday and for special occasions as I prefer light weight medium coverage base. I love the perfect velvety matte finish it gives to the skin. But in a week or so I shall be switching back to BB creams. Its almost offset of summers and my skin has started to be less oily and more flaky on the sides of my nose and lips. Its time to put this product to hibernation, I shall now bring it back in use next summers only.

Makeup Favorites

2. Maybellin Rebel Boutique Lipstick REB-07

This perfectly pastel pink creamy-matte long lasting lipstick has come to my rescue almost every time I am in a hurry and can’t spend hours coordinating the perfect makeup look. It somehow happens to match my every outfit, all the time! I don’t have to worry about reapplying it as it stays for more than 8 hours.

Makeup Favorites

3. ‘The Nudes Palette’ by Maybelline

‘The Nudes Palette’¬†is so sleek and compact that I have been carrying it every time I am travelling. Its texture is smooth and easily glides on to the lids and has a lasting finish. Moreover the shades are so wearable and the look up guide at the back is a time saver! It saves me a lot of time, looking for the perfect combination.

‘The Nudes Palette’ by Maybelline – Review

The Nudes Palette

It’s been a month since the new Maybelline eye-shadow palette called ‘The Nudes Palette’ is in town and its been available in the stores since a week now!¬†I finally managed to get my hands on it!!

About 2 months back I accidentally stumbled upon it while I was surfing the net and since then, have been counting days for its launch in India.

The Nudes Palette
Maybelline “The Nudes” Palette

Packaging

After a very long I have come across a really attractive, handy packaging for eye-shadow palettes. It’s sleek and compact enough, almost the size of my palm. It has a plastic body so you don’t really have to be extra careful handling it. It’s absolutely travel friendly and can slip in conveniently in your sling bag.¬†It comes with a little sponge brush. Many of you might just toss it away… but, this can be helpful in smudging the shadow on the lash lines. While playing with eye-shadows, a blending brush is a must. I wish there was one in this palette too. It would have added on to its completeness.

Texture

I found all the shades from the nudes palette¬†really smooth and appropriately pigmented. It easily glides on to the eyelids and there isn’t much problem of eye-shadow fall off.¬†It doesn’t even crease and the application remains the same throughout the time.

The Nudes Palette
Maybelline “The Nudes” Swatches

Colour Payoff

It stayed for about 8 hours on my eye Lids (with primer). And approximately for about 5-6 hours without primer. I would recommend that you use an eyeshadow primer as it not only makes the shadow last longer but also make the colour stick to the lids better.

13 Looks in one palette

The best thing about most of the Maybelline eyeshadow palettes¬†is that it comes with a little lookup guide at the back. So even if you are a new bee in the world of makeup and don’t know which color combinations to go for or which shade to apply where, the guide at the back will come to your rescue!!
The shades can be worn as duos, trios or quads depending upon the occasion and the kind of intensity you want. I am so thrilled and excited to try all the 13 looks that can be created with this 1 single palette.

Since its new and hot selling, its availability is a little limited. Its out of stock most of the times. You can find it in Lifestyle, Shoppers Stop, New U stores or even online at nykaa.com.

Rating 4.75/5 Highly Recommended

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

The absence of a blending brush makes the pallet incomplete, for every application I have to reach out to my eyeshadow brush. Even while travelling I need to make sure I carry a separate eyeshadow brush, without which the application is not possible for me. Maybe they should have put a brush like the one un urban decay eyeshadow palette 2 & 3 which had a blending brush on one end and an application brush on the other.

Maybelline has also come up with¬†‘The Blushed Nudes Palette’, you can check out the full review HERE.

L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Review

Liquid Powder

Hello Everyone!

Today I am¬†reviewing L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder. As the name suggests, It’s a liquid compact very light weight and looks and feels absolutely natural.

L‚ÄôOreal Claims: Get the ultimate un-makeup look with Magic Nude Liquid Powder Bare Skin Perfecting Makeup with SPF 18. Revolutionary liquid transforms on contact, leaving a soft powder like finish. This foundation is so amazingly lightweight it‚Äôs like wearing no makeup at all! Just shake and apply ‚Äď its magic!

Liquid Powder

I am using shade number 316 Nude Beige, you can pick your suitable shade at the L’Oreal counter in any cosmetic store. ¬†I avoid using heavy makeup bases as much as I can. Anything heavy on my face makes me feel tired, I don’t know how that’s related but yes that’s the case with me. It also has SPF 18 which makes it the perfect skin base for this summers!

You can see me wearing it in my blog ‘Casual Everyday Makeup!’

Liquid Powder

I have medium to oily skin during summers due to which I avoid creamy products on the face. This product is recommended for those who have medium to oily skin. People with dry skin may not find it very appealing.

The product review is as follows:

Packaging:¬† It comes in a glass bottle. I was and still am not very impressed by its packaging. You have to be ultra careful while handling it. Moreover it doesn’t have a nozzle or a pump to control the amount of product that comes out. In order to use it, you’ll simply have to pour the product at the back of your hand with a lot of control as its texture is not much viscous. I hope L’Oreal people would bring in a new and improved packing for easy handling.

Liquid Powder

Texture: It feels really light weight, almost feels like you have diluted your powder compact in water. On application it gives a very soft velvety feel. Gives a Matte finish. But I noticed it tends to look slight powdery / flaky on the sides of the nose,  In fact on close observation it looked slight flaky on the cheeks as well as soon as you apply it ; but in about half and hour, it settles down.

Directions for use:

1. Wash your face and apply a moisturizer.

2. Shake the bottle well, pour it at the back of your hand (2-3 drops approximately).

3. Dot it all over your face and neck and rub it with  fingers. The bottle says that it is not meant to be used with a brush or a sponge.

As per my opinion, you will not see the desired result the very moment you apply it but in about half an hour when the foundation settles down, the perfect texture comes to life!

Coverage and Stay time: It gives light to medium coverage and stays for approximately 6 hours. Perfect for everyday wear.

Price: Rs. 899/-

Availability:¬†L’Oreal counters, NewU stores and online.

Rating: 4.75/5 Highly Recommended

Why it couldn’t make 5/5?

1. Mostly¬†because of its “not so convenient” packaging.

2. Slight flaky look on certain areas the moment you apply it also contributes in not making it 5/5 but that can be ignored slightly as it improves with time.

All in all¬†I truly madly deeply loved it and would really recommend it to all you pretty ladies. I would like to go ahead and declare it as one of my favorite makeup base ūüôā
